Hi all,
I am writing this post almost 3 months after landing in Vancouver.I had applied from Dubai and got my visa after 16 months.
Landed at Vancouver Int'l airport. The immigration and customs officials were very nice. I did not face any problem as I had prepared all my documents very nicely (THANKS QORAX).The officer was pleased to see all documents in an organized manner. He informed me that I will receive my PR card within 45 days (I recd. on time).I was out of the airport in 45 minutes.

My friend had rented an appartment for me close to all amenities (schools, bus stop, stores), which is important in initial days here.Next day I went to services Canada and applied for the SIN card (without any hassles). Then I opened a bank account (again friendly and helpful staff).

The next day I went for the driving license. They gave me a book and asked me to read and then come for the knowledge test (on computer).I read the book for around 2 days and gave the test and passed. They told me that since I have a UAE license I can appear for the road test any time. I went there the next day and gave the road test and passed (they let you drive for around 45 minutes on different roads).

A few days later I bought a car. And at the same time I started applying for jobs.Finding a job is a full time job and after around 60 applications and 4 interviews I found a job (after 2 months). Its a good job and pays me OK.
My advise is to be mentally prepared to face the hardship here in finding the jobs.Be prepared to face rejections but stay positive.

Dear All

Urgent helping . I'm looking for room in Toronto

We thought if you have OHIP card the all is free, but why my daughter has cold and my wife had a checkup on her shoulder and had an xray but this she paid it on her pocket? We live in ottawa and my wife is working only as part time at the moment...any place in Ontario better than Ottawa huh!

Hi everybody,

I sent my complete application under FSW NOC3131, Through courier on 18th Oct-11, and acknowledgment of receiving got on 26th Oct-11 by courier service, Aramex. By the time I sent the application 320 application were received . So I was very hopeful that my application would be inside the 500 Cap..As 500 cap reached in december as per their website update..But unfortunately today I got my application returned mentioning that my application was received after the 500 Cap reached ..

Any body who applied under the same category on the same or nearby dates got HIS/HER AOR???

Dear Qorax,

I am a new member... with your assistance extended to all others you seems to be a messenger from GOD.

My case details are as follows -

- Indian citizen, stayed at Oman and currently in UAE/Dubai
- Application filled through consultant in Dec 2009
- AOR's in Feb'10 and June'10
- eCas status - 'In Process" from Mar 2011
- Almost 23 months from first AOR

Kindly suggest

1) Can I raise my query directly to London VO using my personal email id ? keeping consultant transparent ? will it have any other impact on current address of communication?

2) Can I obtain my CAIPS directly without involving my consultant

3) With present trend it looks my case is delayed where few of our good friends are able to land in 20 months period

Thanks in advance

Dear chinky,

It is a very positive and helpful post. Applaud your patience and professionalism.

Best
Ali

1. Passports with immigration visa
2. COPR Forms
3. Better keep latest pics of each person accompanying you (as per CHC standards).
4. Proof of fund
5. Goods declaration forms (Goods accompanying and Goods to Follow)
