Unrelated to this discussion, but the comment you made about no VO can stop you from landing, is not correct. For almost every country I can think of immigration act (of that country) says visa does not guarantee entry into the country. Secondly, the name "Confirmation of Permanent Residence" is a bit misleading, as getting the COPR does not guarantee permanent residence status in Canada and the CBSA officer at Canadian airport is the final authority that grants you the permanent resident status (by allowing you to land). He/She can still deny you entry or put a condition on your PR at his/her discretion (provided he/she can justify their decision should you go to court against this decision).parry1901 said:As long as you have valid visa & valid passport (no matter if visa is in old passport) no VO can stop you from entering/landing. However do your research before you act.
The reason I am highlighting this is that I am a frequent traveler and have seen many people get into arguments with immigration officers on such issues and the outcome is not always good for them. The reason for this problem everyone assumes "immigration officers are experts on immigration policies of their country" and this is not true. Like we don't know everything about our own fields, similarly immigration officers don't know everything, especially things they have not encountered before. It is always good to carry documentation proving your case (even if it is just a printout of the immigration website) if there is something slightly unusual about your circumstances.
But this is just me, a lot of people are just carefree and don't really care till something like this hits them.
