Dear Qorax,

On the 29th May 2012, we received an email by our VO in Warsaw for our Medicals.
On the 14th June 2012, our Medicals results were received by the London office.(We traced it via Courier).
On 3rd July, 2012, Our updated documents such as PCC and RPRF etc were received by our VO in Warsaw.
Now my question is from which date do we take into account for getting our PPR? I mean the 3-5 months waiting time? does it start from the time we get the email for our medicals or the time it reaches them?

All the best, Waiting to hear from you.

Many thanks

Could someone guide me regarding proof of landing funds.

1) Can we take all cash in UAE Dirhams? ::) I mean would UAE Dirhams be accepted by the Immigration Officer at landing or the cash has to be in Canadian Dollars only?

2) How much cash has to be shown at landing for a family of 3 (that is me, my wife and child) and is there a maximum limit to carry cash?

3) Would cash be the best option if I am landing for the first time or what other options do I have?

Dear Qorax,

I received letter asking for additional info regarding our autistic son before they make a final decision on our file. They think our son will be under excessive demand category and I have only 30 days to do that. Should I reply Immiration officer providing more info or It will be better to hire a lawyer service to follow up with our case at this stage. Your advice would be highly appreciated.

I would firmly suggest that you take Canadian dollar draft to show as proof of funds. But fortunately, none of the immigration officers at any Canadian airport will ask you to show it. They will just ask about how much amount you are carrying. If you are staying for a few days only, then take the DD and some hard cash with you. You can take the DD from AL FARDAN Exchange or UAE Exchange. See the table below for minimum funds requirement:

Number of
Family Members Funds Required
(in Canadian dollars)
1 $11,115
2 $13,837
3 $17,011
4 $20,654
5 $23,425
6 $26,419
7 or more $29,414

Canada's new class for immigration targets UAE applicants

Federal Skilled Trades Class open to selected trades people with experience in occupational areas
By

Majorie van Leijen

Published Sunday, October 14, 2012

The Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC) announced proposed amendments to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) referred to as the 3-pronged approach. The approach includes the introduction of a new class – the Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC).
"The new FSTC is open to selected trades people with experience in the occupational areas," explains Deepak Kohli, President of Transcend Consultants, a regulated Canadian-based immigration consultancy office.

"This is a pass/fail system, meaning that the applicants are assessed based on a set of criteria (as compared to a points system). The applicants meeting all the criteria are selected."

The minimum criteria to be met for the FSTC class are the following:

Ability to work in one of the trades (up to 2 job offers or assessed qualifications);
Proficiency in official languages (minimum CLB 5);
Previous work experience in the selected trades (minimum 2 years full-time); and
Meeting employment requirements of the selected trade.

The occupations for selected trade are identified through the National Occupational Classification (NOC) are the following:

Minor Group
632 Chefs & Cooks (2 occupations)
633 Butchers & Bakers (2 occupations)

Major Group
72 Industrial, Electrical & Construction Trades (33 occupations)
73 Maintenance and equipment operation trades (26 occupations)
82 Supervisors and technical occupations in natural resources, agriculture and related production (10 occupations)
92 Processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators (17 occupations)

The regulations are expected to be implemented in January 2013 but may be possibly revised based on public consultations, explained Deepak.

Dear Qorax Sir, Biju bhai, Sattar bhai, Bharath bhai, SunnyDxb and other seniors who were there for me and for everyone else in this forum. I would like to announce that I got my passports back with the maple leaf (Alhamdulillah). All your advises, were priceless, and i am hoping to be there for others as well.

It is a great feeling, and after a long three years and 2 months, I am really looking forward to move to my new country, a new life, and a completely new journey. Will start to pack up in December. And planning for a Feb/March landing. Wanted to land in July, but Captains' advise to land asap sounds very true.

Again, thank you to all. And wish everyone else the same.

Kindest Regards
Ali
