Thank you for your prompt reply. I was wondering when I go to canada, and I step foot there, do I have to show my apartment agreement, which is under my name or it is not needed?
If I want to be an ESl teacher do I obtain any certificate from toronto? If so what are the costs and duration of the certificate. I already have my masters in english from U.K.
Thank you. We all admire your knowledege and capabilities.

Hi,

1. There's no way/procedure/form/format to declare ur overseas assets in Canada, neither while landing nor thru ur annual tax returns. While landing u present ur form B4 for 'goods to follow' - but remember it's for 'items of regular usage' - not for fixed assets. And while filing ur tax returns [around Jan-Mar of each yr] u may quote ur overseas "incomes" [which is taxable in Canada], but not ur overseas "assets".

2. I'm not sure what's an "ESI teacher", but in any case - Teaching is a "regulated profession" here, which means u'd have to obtain licenses to practice/work. for more info on it u may visit this link: http://www.onnip.ca/article/54/

Do you mean if lets say my dad transfers money from iran to my bank account in canada, Canada gets taxes for that? so its better if I dont quote my overseas income so tax wont be deducted? Is that possible? So is it better to quote the income or not?

For the one millionth time -- "ANY MONEY that u bring-in here, by wire tfr, or draft dep, or chq dep, or TCs, or anyway whatsoever, will NEVER BE TAXED... u can keep bringing-in as much as u can, till whenever u can, all will be FOREVER UNTAXED".

I got visa on March and it got canceled same month showing following two reasons
1) I AM NOT SATISFIED THAT D EMPLOYER HAS DEMONSTRATED COMPLIANCE W/ FEDERAL OR PROVINCIAL LAWS REGARDING EMPLOYMENT OR RECRUITMENT IN D PROVINCE HERE U WILL B WORKING
2) D INFORMATION U PROVIDED @ UR INTERVIEW DID NOT ALLAY MY CONCERNS THAT U HAVE CONCEALLED AN UNAUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE & THAT U PAID ILLEGAL PLACEMENT FEES TO THIS REPRESENTATIVE.
I understand that I hd link with UAE based agency and I paid placement fees, because agency find me employer in Canada. UAE agency ve another agency in Canada who find me employer .but I never keep in touch between employer and me. As well this Canada agency. Now I saw same employer posting job vacancy in job bank and I forward my cv to this employer mail. Employer surprise and sucked to see my resume and contact me what happen how visa cancelled .and now employer showing interest to me hiring again through direct hire not through agency employer wants to apply LMO for me and sending to me directly now my question is
if I apply work permit with same employer in abudhabi visa office what is the chances to approve work permit ?
But abudhabi VO told me if I apply genuine ill get 1st priority to approve visa
and one more question my visa was already cancelled in system in Canadian border and embassy but in my passport still not cancel .and embassy also not requesting for cancelled what can I do/ I still can apply another application for work permit ?
Some seniors advise me!!!

Hi,

1. U file tax returns every yr. for the previous yr. [filed between Jan-Mar],
2. U state all ur incomes in that, including overseas ones [if any],
3. U pay taxes on the total income [Canadian+Overseas], alongwith that tax return,
4. After a while [usually 3-4 weeks] u receive the CRA tax assessment report, which is based on ur tax filing,
5. Here CRA specifies ur refunds [if any] & tax amounts further due [if any], or whether ur filing was correct & successful.

Note:
a. We r talking about declaring ur 'incomes' here in ur annual tax returns,
b. Not what u bring-in while landing or later [whenever] -- those r settlement funds & non-taxable,
c. 'Income' here means 'earnings' which u state 'only' during ur annual tax filing,
d. Thus, if u don't state ur "overseas incomes" it cannot be taxed [though it's illegal to do so],
e. B'coz in Canada u r liable for paying tax on ur 'total' global income, not just on ur Canadian income.

Hope that clarified...

Further to above, if your overseas income is taxed in your home country then you can take benefit of double taxation avoidance treaty, if same exists between Canada and your country,
On Overseas income Tax is payable only when you have established substantial residence in Canada. So if you are just doing a Landing run and then going back to your country of residence and intent o come back later , then your overseas income is not taxable, only interest or capital earned during this period is taxable
On fixed assts specially property owned in your Home country, the law says that an New immigrant on the day of landing is deemed to to have sold off and re acquired all his property, point to note is that it is only deemed, no physical transaction needs to take place. Now at later date if you sell this property and bring money in Canada and declare that this is from property sale then you will be liable for paying Capital gain tax on any appreciated value of property from the day of landing. You could again use Double taxation avoidance treaty to reduce or write-off your tax liability if you have already paid tax in home country.

India and canada have double tax avoidance treaty so if you have paid tax in India then you would not necessarly pay tax in canada, this will depend on diffrence in Tax rates. If the tax rate is less in India and more in canada, then you could get credit for tax already paid and have to pay balance and vice versa with a cavet that canada will not give any tax credit for addtional tax which you might have paid in india.
From India if you want to send money to canada , then you will have to pay tax as banks will not transfer funds till such time you have completed the formalities with tax dept.
If you are having income in India and you are filling up your tax forms and paying tax in India then there is nothing to Hide, if however your income in India is not taxable or you are not filing tax return then you would any which ways not be able to bring that income into canada legally, because banks will not transfer the funds till such time you have Tax formalities completed.
It will be your call, try to speak to any CA in India on this, my knowledge is what i have gained by reading information available on Internet as i am also going through the same process, and i am no expert on this issue.

Hi, i am not aware about the tax laws of Iran,so i will not be able to help you on this specific query, but the underlying principle will remainthe same from Canadas perspective, The ongoing sanctions against Iran would also play a factor in this,
