Well actually Europe does require visas even for transiting, at least Germany and France I'm sure of as I had to apply for transit visa when travelling to the states via frankfurt, so better check before getting your ticket, as it also takes longer for some nationalities.
Not for us (destination Canada), at least thru UK.

Regardless of your nationality, you may be exempt from the requirement to hold a direct airside transit visa (DATV) when passing through the UK.

You are not required to hold a transit visa if you hold, or the person with whom you have arrived in the UK holds on your behalf:

■ a valid visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America and a valid airline ticket for travel through the UK as part of a journey from another country or territory to the country for which the visa is held;
■ a valid visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America and a valid airline ticket for travel through the UK as part of a journey from the country for which the visa is held to another country or territory;
■ a valid airline ticket for travel through the UK as part of a journey from Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America to another country or territory, provided that you do not seek to transit the UK on a date more than six months from the date on which you last entered Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America with a valid visa for entry to that country;
■ a valid USA I-551 Permanent Resident Card issued on or after 21 April 1998;
■ a valid Canadian Permanent Resident Card issued on or after 28 June 2002;
■ a valid common format Category D visa for entry to a European Economic Area (EEA) state;
■ a valid common format residence permit issued by an EEA state under Council Regulation (EC) No. 1030/2002;
■ a diplomatic or service passport issued by the People's Republic of China;
■ a diplomatic or official passport issued by India; or
■ a diplomatic or official passport issued by Vietnam.

In my opinion it shouldn't be a prob at all. But yes, he has to intimate the VO about his hearing impairment, before proceeding for 'landing'.

The IRPA clarifies that if the PA or anyone of his/her family members have any material changes in: (1) Medical, (2) Criminal, (3) Family addition/deletion, (4) Court orders, etc. the PA is required to intimate the CIC about it before moving.

It's also written in the "Port of Entry Manual" (ENF4) that the BSO has to check with the arriving new immigrant that there has been no changes on the foregoing after s/he had been issued with the visa/s.

Thus, he is required to inform about his med condition asap. However, it is not likely to change anything.

Well, that could be the case with the UK, as when I travelled to the states via Frankfurt they didn't take into consideration that I had a US visa, and still had to get transit visa. So probably it's different in the UK, thanks for sharing that.

Thanks Sir. Will accordingly inform my friend.Can he get a report made by the doctor and carry it with him and present it to BSO if it is required. he has a little apprehension to inform the VO as he says he had spent too much time waiting for the process to get completed and any adverse decision by CHC now will hamper him Rgds Shnaks78

Hi all;
I posted an inquiry to London office almost 10 days back. I got no response. This usually doesn’t happen with me. Anyone have any idea why they didn't respond? My Medical and RPRF were sent in Sept 2010. Appreciate any advice.
