Dual TRV application: Spouse work permit and visitor visa.

Hello everyone,
I'm on the study permit here and I want to bring my wife here. I have already submitted her SOWP application. Processing time for SOWP is showing 37 weeks which seems a long time. Can I also apply for her visitor visa? Is having two TRV applications legitimate? Thank you everyone!.

You can try but unless she is only coming for a visit and doesn’t have strong ties to her home country there is a good chance she will be denied because she should be applying for an SOWP. No harm in trying. Permits or visas are also not guaranteed for families of international student. Whether you are pursuing an advanced degree like a masters or PhD seems to increase chances of approval. Recent marriage especially without much of an in person ling dating history tends to have a more difficult time getting approved.
