Dual Intent

Hello,

I just send my PR application Outland last week. I have been in Canada on different work visas for 4 years and my current one is valid until June 2010. I am planning to go and see my grandparents in my in Germany. Hopefully upon return I will not have any problems. I assume by then my PR application will be in the file system (or at least the sponsor). Now if that is the case I am sure they are going to ask me about it. Is that considered dual intent as well? What should I say? I am planning on taking an entire copy of the application as well as the receipts that the fees have been paid with me. Just insecure about the dual intent situation....

Thanks for all your advice.
Julie

Rasha just to let you know that I applied outland and not inland.I could applied easily inland but didn't want to go through the hard way. Also the only time my husband was questioned about our relationship when he was granted visa for the first time, the other two times he was never questioned neither in Canada neither in Lebanon on why he wants to visit Canada and who is visiting. I remember the only thing they required from him at the time of entry to show his returning ticket and to confirm with the CBSA the day he is flying back to his native country. The only question I remember we both have been asked during his first time visit (4 years ago) if our friendship could be lead to a marriage or to a serious relationship. We both replied that there is a possiblity for a marriage or serious relationship in the near future but at first we take it as a friend. I sent invitation letter the first time and I had indicated on the letter as a friend to get to know each other and to get to know my family as well. The other 2 visas he was granted without any help or invitation letter. I know some of us are lucky and others unfortunate. While waiting for his outland application I will definitely let you all how it went and if an interview was required.
Good luck to everyone and thank you as well for all your inputs.

Hi Lisa,
Yes we got married while he was visiting last year but I did inform CBSA on change of status when he left.

Marlena, re-read my post please. I didn't say nor imply that you applied inland - I said that I realized that was not you........specifically I said:

"I am not saying that is you - as you did not misrepresent your spouse, and then he came and stayed to try and do an inland application - but some before us have" ....

For clarification, I was commenting on people who DO that.

Rasha don't worry about it. All I wanted to clarify just in case people didn't know if it was outland or inland.

Hi Julchen,

I have a question.
Are you married to your sponsor? Did you marry in Canada or in your country?

Hi Marlena,

No, we are not yet. We are engaged and are to be married next year in January in Mexico, have been together since 2006, living together since 2007.

Did you see my earlier post about me going to Germany for a visit while having my Outland application in process?

Thanks,
Julie

Julchen are you intend to visit your bf and also work during your stay in Canada since it's a work visa.
You can mention both of them at the time of entry if you are questioned.

Well we live together in Canada so I am not really visiting him. My current visa is valid until June 2010; I am just going to see my grandparents in Germany for two weeks as they are getting quite old. So I was just wondering how to respond if they question me when I come back at the end of May as I am sure by then there will be something in my file about PR. If not and not ask, then I guess I would not mention it. They always pull me out as I had a visa problem back in 2006. So I guess I was just wondering if that falls under dual intent. Being here on a work visa and having applied for PR.

In my opinion you should provide answers only to their questions.
Make it short and sweet :)
Your visa won't expire until June 2010 which it's a bonus for you.
Good luck!!!

Boncuk, thanks for posting this link.

However I assume it does not apply in my situation as I already have a work visa?? While working and living here I met my fiance, so it should not be a problem when I enter Canada holding a work visa and having applied for PR.
