Dual Canadian citizen with expired Canadian passport needs Canadian visit visa

Hi. I am a dual Canadian citizen living in the country of my second nationality which does not recognize dual citizenship. I took the my second citizenship through marriage.
Now I need to visit my parents in Canada but my Canadian passport expired 6 years back. I don't want to renew it at the embassy here.
Can I apply for a Canadian visit visa on my other nationality passport from any Canadian embassy abroad? Is it okay for dual Canadian nationals to enter Canada on their other nationality passports with a visit visa?
(I intend to renew my Canadian passport once I am in Canada.)
Please advise, thanks.

No - you can't. You don't qualify to apply for a visit visa since you are a Canadian citizen.

If your second nationality is a visa exempt country, then you can simply use that passport to visit Canada.

If your second nationality is not visa exempt, then you'll need to renew your Canadian passport.

You may apply for a facilitation visa at the relevant visa post to be placed in your non Canadian passport. The same visa post could renew your Canadian Passport as you want to hide your second citizenship from the Canadian embassy in that country of this citizenship (no point really they don't care).

Thanks Scylla. Unfortunately my second nationality in not visa exempt.
I am avoiding going to the Canadian embassy here to renew my passport because I am concerned that they may report me to the local authorities. If that were to happen, the local authorities would ask me to choose one nationality (I cannot afford to lose either citizenship).

If I were to renew my Canadian passport from any other country, would the Canadian embassy there contact the Canadian embassy here in the country of my second nationality and residence to check up on my information?
Since I let my Canadian passport expire for 6 years, would the Canadian authorites scrutinize the information on my application for renewal?
