ooh great, Why we need the extract ? can't they just simply see the US DL and give us the DL ?
Remember you are not moving from one state to another state within US. You are going to a different country and it would be fair for them to ask some additional documents to issue a license. The good thing is, you don't have to start from the scratch. :)

I got mine my CA and it had issue date of the first license. Service Ontario folks were looking for that.
I got one in CA too and be aware that the driving history printout they issue at DMV does not show the first day you were granted the license, it only shows the Issue date for the current license you have.

I had renewed mine in early Aug 2019 and my history shows the issue date of Aug 2019 while I have had CA driving license for my entire adult life starting back in 2001. Fortunately, I have kept all my previous expired licenses and hopefully Ontario can issue me a G license with this history report and all physical licenses I have in my possession from 2001 onward.

Not sure about yours. Mine had an original DL Issue date. I got mine in May 2018.

California stopped issuing 10 year history records in March 2019 and now they issue what they call a standard report however, issue is on this standard report, they show the issue date which unfortunately is only for the current valid license and not its entire history.
See FAQs - https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/online/dr/dr_faqs

"What is reflected on the driver record?
Effective March 20, 2019, driver records formerly referred to as an “H6” or “10 year record” that included information intended for internal department purposes are no longer available. Driver records will only include all reportable information: convictions for three, seven, or ten years, departmental actions, and accidents on a person’s driver record as required by California Vehicle Code section 1808."

Agreed! I just got mine today and it goes back to almost a decade when my initial license was issued.

Is it in California as all states have different rules, Here is official CA DMV FAQ page where they confirm that they do not issue the 10 year report anymore. All they issue is standard report which lists convictions if any within the given period (which could be 10 year). My main concern is, on the report they have something called "Issue Date" for the license which shows only the most recent period and does not go back in time :(.

Sorry to hear that bro! Mine is from a different state. I wonder why would CA do so.

Gotcha, yet another finger for the state taxes you paid. GTFO.

They are too busy to provide services to law abiding residents. Their main focus is on how they can issue licenses to undocumented immigrants than simply provide what other states are doing and has been standard practice for long time. Even to get my license renewed I had to wait 3 hours after having appointment which was booked 3 months in advance. CA DMV folks are bunch of incompetent morons and given a choice I would never step a foot there again :(

Hmmm. Then, I guess what @Samoinp said above is absolutely correct. Move off these kind of places.

Hello Everyone,

I have lived in New Jersey and Massachusetts .

For my driving history in New Jersey I've the following details
  • Certified Driving Extract
  • Non Certified Driving Extract

For Massachusetts
  • Registration details
  • Copy of the my old driving license
I am moving to Ontario . Please advice if I need DO11 as well, in addition to the above listed details.

Hi Guys! I recently received my PR and plan to move to Canada early next year. I've about 6.5 years of driving history in Texas. I would like to know some details about the requesting driver record from Department of Public Safety (DPS).

1. Texas DPS issues different types of driving records - Type 1, Type 2, Type 2A, Type 3, Type 3A and Type AR. Here is the link to these types. Which type should I request or what are the necessary details required on the driving record in order to be able to exchange the license?

2. They have an option to order the record online or request by mail. If I order online and print, will it be accepted? Is it mandatory to carry the original driving record (received in mail) from DPS?
You need Driver's Abstract from TX state where you have 6.5 yrs of driving history. Make sure that Abstract has issued date and expiry date. I just moved to canada and I am in process of exchanging my license in canada. Thanks

Thanks so much for your response! Does the abstract have an expiry date as well? I don't have an immediate plan to move to Canada, wondering what's the right time to request for the driving record?

You could get it a couple of weeks before you plan to move to Canada.

you can check check with TX DMV whether they have issued date and expiry date mentioned in Abstracts. I lived in 4 different state and 3 of them have issued & expiry date mentioned in Abstract. One state didn't have issued date but it had expiry date. you need to check with each state DMV where you lived in.
