I landed today to become a PR.
The CIC officer told me that ,incase I am interested in becoming a citizen, the citizenship eligibility rule will very likely change anytime soon.
So far you needed soandso many days in Canada(sorry I dont have the exact number but Im sure you all know what Im talking about) the days before you became PR counting as half days, and needed to be in Canada 3 out of the last 5 years.
Now it will very likely change to :
You need to be in Canada 5 out of 6 years and the days before you gained your PR status will NO LONGER count. Plus the fees to apply for citizenship will DOUBLE!
I thought some of you might find this information useful. If you are debating wether to apply now or later,Id suggest you do it now before it changes and you may no longer be eligible.
