Hi,
My parents divorced when I was little, ever since then they share custody of me. I was born outside Canada after my mom became a Canadian permanent resident, but before she became a Canadian citizen. In the other hand, my dad doesn't have status in Canada, and we all currently live oversea.
As I grew older, my mom intends to sponsor me to become a Canadian permanent resident. To do so, she planned to settle down in Canada with me.
We have been told that my mom can only sponsor me if she gets sole custody of me, but I just wondering will that prevents me sponsor my dad in the future (if the parents sponsorship category available again)? and is it really necessary to have my dad sign away custody of me so I can be sponsored by my mom?
Need help, thanks!
Jane
