Hello,

I wanted to renew my Bridge open workpermit which is going to expire on August 31, 2020. I would like to add my wife who is staying with me in Canada. She came to Canada on Dependent Work permit which was now expired on March 9th, 2020. Before it get expired she applied for Visit visa inside canada to extend her stay in Canada, which was suggested by IRCC. Now, she still did not get any update on her application.

My wife did not applied PR neither accompanying me as per application. She is technically on Implied status now. The issue here is now, will she be able to be added on my workpermit application?

if Yes, What should this question "Does your family member want to restore their status in Canada?" should be answered as? Because its been more than 90 days since her workpermit expired, but she is in Implied status.

Your wife must be included on your PR application.

What is going on with your PR? It is unusually that your BOWP expired before you got PR.

Yes, I am applying BOWP only for me for the moment. I am not including my wife now.

My BOWP expiry date is the same as my passport expire date.

I applied BOWP on Jan 10th and I got BOWP approved on July 27th which is after 7 months. My passport expiry date is on August 31, 2020, so they BOWP is stated the same expiry date.

I think if she is on implied status, then this answer is "NO". Because she has a status in Canada, an implied one.

Now only trouble is, if her application is "Rejected Incomplete", then she will no longer have status retroactively. It will be treated as if she lost her status on the day her permit expired.

If that happens before 31st December 2020 AND the expiry of her permit happened after Jan 2020 (forgot the exact date), then she can still apply for restoration of status -- if otherwise eligible. This is the new "Covid-19" guideline.
