Does TRV help or hinder PR Application ?

Re: PMM - Does TRV help or hinder PR Application ?

Frolic,

I suppose you are correct. My frustration may be in haste, as my wife only applied for her TRV last week.

From what I have read here, my expectation of her being refused is about 99% because I can't "prove" she will return home. I feel like such a hypocrit telling her Canada is great and wonderful, but she can't come visit me for a few weeks...Canada is just to great to allow her to enter...!

I am happy to hear you were succesful in your attempt...that gives me a little hope.

I feel it is self evident that she will return home because she will need to go back to get her PR, quit her job, tie-up some loose ends, etc..but I guess the CIC worries people will come here, cancel their Inland application and change it to Outland.

Personally I think that is a very risky move and is not something I would attempt.

I would prefer there be some sort of bond we pay and if she doesn't return, the government keeps my money...or, that we sign a form agreeing we will not change to an outland application.

I guess I'll find out in 2-3 weeks whether or not I should be complaining. (I do find it ridiculous the amount of time and paperwork I had to do so she could apply for a visit visa and that it will take 2-4 weeks for an answer. I can get a multiple entry visa to China in 4 hours with a letter of invitation and one form).

Canada is so great that many people who get in on a visit visa don't bother go back home which is why they are being careful about who they let in. I don't think they worry too much about people changing their sponsorship applications from outland to inland since inland usually takes longer anyway and you would lose the time you already waited for outland but they might worry that if you are not approved, she will not return home.

What I don't understand while everyone is complaining the fact they worry about not granting TRV once the application in process for PR.
Personally I wouldn't take the chance to ask my husband to come and visit even if he was granted 3 times TRV in the past. I would make the effort to go and visit him instead and not worrying it might have an impact on his PR application and might not be approved for TRV as well because of it.

Hey PMM, I can understand your confusion but I guess I wouldn't advise to take a chance on TRV reason being my hubby's TRV has just been denied. I thought there were no reasons to be honest as he has a full time job which he wouldn't quit and since I have submitted his PR application he dint wanna ruin his chances of getting PR but I guess its difficult for the visa guys to understand that. All my spouse wantedto do was come and visit me in Canada but the visa guys think that the spouse would just not leave Canada and usually rejects the TRV application. Atleast my spouse's appl was rejected :(

according to the check-list of the required documents for sponsorship application - medical is a must, as well as the police certificate

Re: PMM - Does TRV help or hinder PR Application ?

Good luck Liuzhou.

And just so you know...my gf at the time was refused a TRV from Russia in 2007. Of course it was sad but we just got on with our life and relationship. No TRV just means no TRV, the rest of our plans just continued, only thing that we changed is location.

You shouldn't compare China visa requirements to Canadian ones. The difference is people want to move here and often try anything to get here so Canada has to increase the requirements in order to protect against the people trying to come here illegally. China on the other hand is not worried about Canadians sneaking into China...so their visa requirements are probably more of an income source than anything else. Pay and you get in. The same can be said for Russia...I can get a visa by paying...and if I want it faster I just pay more.

Everyone is complaining because they want to see their spouse. Unlike you, I have not been able to have my wife visit me three times. I have gone to China to visit her 4 times. I think it's her turn to visit me.

Not applying for TRV while a PR is in process is a personal choice you want to make. There is no risk to the PR if a TRV is refused. This has been confirmed by CIC and several other people on this and other websites claiming that they received the PR even when the TRV had been refused.

I recently read about a woman who was given a hard time because she did not apply for her PR until one year after they got married. The VO asked why did she wait so long and suspected it must have been a marriage of convenience.

I believe they will ask the same thing of my wife if she does not at least try to visit me during the wait for the PR. If my wife has to have an interview, I want the record to show that my wife at least tried to visit me.

That is my personal choice.

Liuzhou,

I hope your wife is approved for her TRV. I'm on your side and would like to see you all us reunited with our spouses. I know it's hard but I always believe if it meant to be it will be no matter how long it will takes.
Please share with us if she is granted TRV.

Hi Liuzhou,

Yes, please keep us updated as I also consider inviting my wife in Canada to celebrate our first year wedding anniversary.
Has your federal sponsorship approved already?

Good luck,
Jean

Sure...I'll let everyone know when they say no !! :)

My sponsorship was approved in mid February and the file has been "In Process" in Hong Kong since Mid March of this year.

Just found out today her TRV was refused....not a surprise...but dissapointing none-the-less...

Seems like they made the decision the same day they received the application....they are fast at something...taking my $75 and saying no. :)

What bothers me is they sent everything back...I was hoping they would at least copy all the additional supporting documents we sent in...

Reason provided was "not satisifed she would return after visa expired....bla bla bla...

Oh well...just need to keep waiting....in the mean time, I'll plan a trip to go see her at the end of June.

Sorry for hearing the bad news! but as you mentioned before they will see that your wife had made the effort to visit you and it could be a good sign for her PR application.
Good luck!!!
