Does this count as a second certificate/diploma/degree?

I graduated with a Bachelor's in Communication from the US, after completing a four year program. While doing that, I also participated in a "Certificate for Creative Writing" through the same school, which involved its own set of admission standards, classes, and requirements. I complete all elements of study and was granted an undergraduate certificate. Does this qualify me to move into the "Two or more post-secondary program credentials" category in CRS, even though I completed this second program as a part of my four year undergraduate study? Or does a certificate HAVE to be a separate post-graduate study?

Thank you!

I think this is what is confusing me. In the US, postgraduate usually means post-college or university. But here, there's both post-graduate and post-Bachelor's. So, do these quoted items refer to any post-secondary school study?

Thank you for your help!

Oh, I re-read -- it says "PLUS any of the results in the sections below", meaning anything that falls under "One-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute," right?

If so, that section includes college-level certificate study, which is what I would classify this program as. Hmmm. I obviously would get an ECA for it before really banking on such, but I feel a little more certain it may count.

Thanks again!

My guess is that it won't count - but by all means go for the ECA and see what happens.

For certificates, they are typically looking at programs that took 8+ months of full time studies to complete.

If this was something you did on the side while studying full time, I'm not sure it will qualify.

It was two total years of classes (six classes total, with some pre-requisites) which is roughly equivalent to certificates I do see around. It wasn't really "on the side" so much as a second program of study -- like a minor or double major, I guess, but with a specific certificate result. But you're right, I have no idea if that would be defined differently! Thanks for your input, I definitely would go forward with an ECA before banking on the extra points. =)

If this certificate has its own set of unique courses (meaning that these courses are uniquely counted towards this specific certificate).. With a minimum of of 1 year of study (i.e. post graduate diploma, or, two year bachelor's after degree with a focus area, shown in jemdill's post above),

then why not?
You best option is to consult with ECE or WES for credential assessment result.

Yes, it was specific classes that only served this particular certificate. That is another factor that I wasn't sure if it helped add credence. =)

When I get these assessed I will report back for anyone curious!

Hi, I have the same issue.
Do you only have one transcript for both of your bachelor's degree and certificate?
Did you manage to get your certificate assessed with ECA?
