Does the sponor need to be a blood relative

Hi Everyone..
I wanted to that if one is applying for student visa does his/her sponsor has to be a blood relative or he/she can be anyone like some friend, family friend, cousin or something like that...

if it's ur blood relative it best and if it's not ur blood relative then he/she'll need to show the same amount in his/her account also

I have a related question. My aunt will sponsor my education. She's my father's sister. What other documents aside from Bank statements and pay slips and affidavit of support do i have to show?
