I am wondering when I ask my employer for the reference letter, does it have to be issued/signed by the HR department? Or can it be the manager of the organization I work for?

"Dates of your employment" specified in "Reference Letter" should match with your Schedule A. VO may or may not take it seriously. Better to send an updated one.

thanks. I already sent the letter, with explaining discrepancy for one day.
it does not affect my eligibility, NOC, salary, r&r no change. only end date is reduced by 15 days. explanation given for 1 day. so only 14 days is discrepancy.
still I need to send the updated. already one review is over. I panic, if send an updated form will cause confusion at this stage
it should be ok. In case CIC have any concern with the reference letter or employment, VO can call your employer to make sure. In my case, CIC called my employer a week ago regardless of a well written reference letter.
