8 years is not much. My wife is 9 years younger than me. If it is the woman who is older, then that may be a flag.

are you from India?

do you have Marriage certificate, and your traditional Indian Wedding Pic, and your wedding Invitation card.

and it should not be an issue

in my case, yes we do have 8 Years difference, but my case was processed 16 years ago

In the more forward-thinking countries, age difference is no big deal, but if you are from a 3rd world country and the woman is older than the man, they may question that depending on your culture, religion etc. You can blame the rampant sexism.

Agreed 100%

8 years is nothing, I have a few friends in Canada in marriages that are over 20 years age difference, older men and younger women often get along great and make great couples

Just to reiterate what ImABule and Aquakitty said: it depends on who is older, the man or the woman; and the cultural background of the couple.
If the wife is older in many cultures, this will be a red flag. If the wife is younger, it will most likely not be a problem, no matter what country she is from. If the wife is older, but the couple is from a country where this is not unusual, it should not be a problem.

For example: you can find many appeal cases on CanLII where the visa was refused because the cultural background of the couple was Indian and the wife was older. Likewise, in northern Africa this will be an issue. If the applicant is from the USA (or other Western countries), then an older wife will not raise concerns.

My husband and I have a 16 year age difference. But as others have said, the fact I'm the younger one (and also the sponsoring Canadian) is far more accepted by CIC. Our application was processed and approved in four months.

I would not worry about it! I am older than my husband and yes we did get red flagged and interviewed! But all send and done we got approved! So good luck!

I know one case with 20 year old difference (woman is younger than man) but with strong evidences of genuine relationship. And they got interview waived.

really, if they will look throughly with our pictures/messages and how our relationship developed they'll see all differences we got, not a big deal at all for us.

:)

Yea, for the case I mentioned above, they have long time knowing each other, many time meeting before marriage. Of course their application was also well prepared.
Then I think age difference is not a big deal at all :)

i know a pakistani sponsor who was 10-11 years older than his wife. no interview required.

I couldn't agree more. My husband is 18 years my senior and we are best friends. We have 2 children together and have been married for almost 5 years but together for almost 8. I did get interviewed but mostly regarding my parents immigration history when I was a child. So not related to our marriage at all....
I wouldn't worry too much about an age difference. Just show enough proof that the marriage is genuine and you'll be okay :)
