Does spouse ECA help to increase the ranking in Express entry pool

I wanted to apply for Canadian PR, but getting confused with consultants from India.
Some people says that spouse IELTS and ECA adds to the ranking in a pool, and increases the chances to get the invitation for PR.
Wherein some people says that this is not mandatory.

please advice what is correct here?

Well that being said it is not mandatory but it does help in increasing your score.

It doesn't help in faster invitation. Invitation depends on your score only.

You have an answer in you question aashsh..

Yes it is optional but always better getting done IELTS and ECA for both of you..(husband and wife).. they have different scoring section for married and single applicants.

I hope this helps!

Thanks,

Mandatory - No

Helps in getting more Points-

1. Yes, If accompanying Spouse.

2. No, It doesnt Matter. If not accompanying spouse.

Accompanying / Non-Accompanying spouse- Read about it for more information and consequences.

hope this helps.

I am assuming that your spouse who would be the co-applicant or dependent does not have Canadian work experience. In that case the maximum points that you can claim for your spouse would be 30 points which is divided between ECA and IELTS. For ECA you can get up to 10 points and for IELTS 20 points. So how.mu h you get out if 30 points depends on the ECA and IELTS results. However, as you have heard, both of these are optional for spouse.

The main factor for boosting CRS is the primary applicant's IELTS score, try to get 8777 in LRWS which will help you get a good CRS combined with other factors.

Meanwhile, if you would like to calculate your CRS, use this call UK calculator http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

As far as I know there has been no known case at least on this forum where anyone has been asked to order duplicate copy of spouse's ECA to be made available to OINP. In case they need it,.they will request it as part of additional documents request post AOR.

Stanlee, Thanks

My CRS includes 24 points for my spouse. Without taking any chances, once I get the OINP AOR, If requested I will order duplicate for both.

Sure, duplicate ECA gets processed within 24-48 hours. So you can wait for AOR and then plan accordingly.

Hi Everyone! A great informative forum for all of us looking to immigrate.

BreakingBad...my spouse is already a PR in Canada and is not a part of my application. With your post I presume I could not gain additional points for her ECA and IELTS were she to take them?

Searched high and low here and CIC for a concrete answer but still unclear!

Your help would be most appreciated :)

Thanks a lot Stanlee for the detailed info. I have used CRS calculator and fill in the details for both me and my spouse.
I am just getting 379 score out of 1200, which appears to be damn low.

Do you have any idea from your prior experience that whether this score will be sufficient enough to get the invitation or not.

In the past the score for direct ITA has never come down below 450. So you will have to focus on improving your CRS by improving IELTS score. Use the calculator to see the variation in CRS by a slight change in your IELTS score.

The other option that you have is to secure a provincial nomination, if nominated, you get 600 points added to your CRS, thereby making you eligible to receive ITA in the next round of invite post nomination. Each province has it's own requirements, check this thread to know more http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/summary-of-eligibility-requirements-for-all-express-entry-pnp-streams-t432937.0.html.

Another option is to get LMIA approved job offer from Canadian employer, which will again add 600 points to your CRS making you eligible to get ITA in the next round of invite. But the chances of getting an LMIA backed job offer is very bleak, especially if you're out of Canada and you do not have a niche skill.

Hi Stanlee,

I have tried giving maximum score possible in IELTS for both me and my spouse, but still I am getting 428 points only.
Please advice is it worth applying PR or not? and it is most likely that any one of us may not obtain the highest scroe in IELTS

Score above 400 is good, not enough for direct ITA, but good for provincial nomination. OINP used to be everyone's safe bet, but they have maxed out the quota for 2016. So you will have to wait for any updates for the new quota in November 2016. For other provinces, you will have to check their respective website as the requirement for each province varies.

Hi Stanlee,

Thanks for the informatoin. I have gone through the OINP nomination procedure and found that this can help me out even though my points are not exceeding 450. I just have one basic question is that, once I get nominated by Ontario Province and got PR, shall this PR will be restricting myself to do the job only in Ontario province?

If yes then Is Ontario a province which has maximum number of IT companies..? I am a software developer by profession and has 9.5 years of experience.
