they wont check back home right

They are making security checks from sources outside of Canada too. Inquiries to your countries are also included in the process, so if your country doesn't provide the info your file gets stuck until they got a response.

I know for the PR, detailed security clearances from home country is required.

Its my understanding, might be I'm wrong to assume. For the Citizenship, since the applicant is already a resident of Canada such clearance might NOT be required. Unless the applicant who traveled much to country or countries which Canada deems unsafe under current conditions could raise red flags for exhaustive security clearance.
