Yes, your spouse will have to submit their PCC and do an upfront medical exam.

Yes, you will need to submit a police clearance certificate for your spouse even if they are not coming to Canada now. This is because the police clearance certificate is used to assess your spouse's criminal history and it is a standard requirement for all spousal sponsorship applications.

The police clearance certificate must be issued from the country where your spouse is currently residing. It must be translated into English or French and certified by a certified translator. The police clearance certificate must be less than 6 months old at the time of your application submission.

You can find more information about police clearance certificates on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/medical-police/police-certificates/about.html

Here are some additional tips for submitting a police clearance certificate for your spouse:
  • Make sure to contact the police authorities in your spouse's country well in advance to request the police clearance certificate. The process can take several weeks or even months, so it is important to give yourself plenty of time.
  • Be sure to follow the specific instructions provided by the police authorities in your spouse's country. The requirements for police clearance certificates can vary from country to country.
  • If you are unable to obtain a police clearance certificate from your spouse's country, you may be able to obtain an alternative document, such as a certificate of good conduct. You will need to contact IRCC to determine if an alternative document is acceptable.
I hope this helps!

You will also need to obtain a police clearance certificate from your spouse's home country, even if they have not resided there for the past 10 years. This is because the police clearance certificate is used to assess your spouse's criminal history in all countries where they have resided for a period of six months or more. Police certificates are not required for countries in which you stayed prior to the age of 18.

The police clearance certificate from your spouse's home country must be translated into English or French and certified by a certified translator.

Here are some additional tips for obtaining a police clearance certificate from your spouse's home country:
  • You will need to contact the relevant authorities in your spouse's home country to request the police clearance certificate.
  • The process can take several weeks or even months, so it is important to give yourself plenty of time.
  • You will need to provide the relevant authorities with your spouse's personal information, such as their name, date of birth, and passport number.
I hope this helps!
