Hi All, I was here in Canada a yr back on a business visitor visa and later went back and came on a work permit. Does my initial stay is considered for CEC? If I include that my stay would be 2 years by now, If not I have to wait another 6 months.

Please let me know. Thanks,

you have to wait..........!!

hi, i think its not considered in CEC. because in CEC only 2 are qualified. temporary foreign worker (not business visa), and a graduate of a Canadian post-secondary institution. so you have to wait til you complete 2 years.

From experience, one of my far relatives, he came just for a visit few years back and then he got married to one of teh relatives in Canada. So, when he filed his application, CIC count that as his days in Canada for his Canadian citizen ship application, so I guess the same should be true for residence application too. But I am not 100% sure, you might wanna call CIC Toll free and ask the question and see what do they say!

Business Visa duration , cannot be included for CIC.

applying for citizenship is a different thing. it says, your days that are physically present in Canada under any circumstances will count. it counts as half during your stay physically in Canada before you became a permanent resident and will be counted as a whole the day you became a resident. but a minimum of 2 years after you became a resident and must complete at least 3 years of 5-year period of physical stay in Canada preceding your application for citizenship.

The 2 years full time work experience qualification for CEC must have been obtained thru a valid work authorization, therefore, your stay under visitor visa does not count...
