Does living in more than 1 country Slow Down Process?

Hi all,

My husband has lived in 3 countries all together (UK, Canada, US) and I was wondering if that slows down the progress?
Anyone here in similar situation? How long did it take you to get you PR card?

As long as he has no criminal record in any of those country and completed the application without missing info, that won't be a problem at all. Many of us here have lived in multiple countries.

It might, just because the background check will take longer as several agencies have to be involved. I believe they involve agencies of a specific country if he lived there for longer than 6 months (it also depends on how much information you provided on your forms where you list all the addresses where you lived etc). Expect that his background check might take between 3-5 months, but you always might get lucky and get through the process faster.

It should not, when I applied I had lived in U.S., Canada and Australia. Mine was slowed because my Australian police certificate wasn't in with the package. The FBI clearance from the U.S. took two months. If you order all police certificates then it will only slow you down as long as the slowest one takes to get back to you. Not a problem at all, just get them all ordered because the one from the FBI in the U.S. is going to take a couple of months most likely.

I don't think it's the quantity that matters. It's what specific countries he has lived in. Certain "sketchy" countries may involve longer background checks than others.
Living in the US and UK should not cause any delays, since you will have already included the criminal checks from each in the application.
