Needing information as to how or what documents you would need to get a joint bank account on a tourist visa? Is their a bank that is easier? RBC.. Etc...my son is Canadian and his wife brazilian are applying for permanant residence? This would help in their process so any advice would be welcomed!!

Someone asked if they could open in Brazil, and yes they could but he works in canada and they want to apply outland or inland from there. Does it matter where the account is? Either country? He does have permanant visa status in Brazil.

There's no particular bank where this is easier. Regardless of which bank you pick - it seems that some branches know how to do this and are willing to do it - and some aren't. Your son should just visit branches until he finds one that's willing to set the account up. They will tell him what documents are needed.

I live in Canada and when my husband came to visit we set up a joint account. This was before he was my husband. He just needed to take his passport and drivers ,licence for i.d. I was also able to add him to my visa. We used TD.

I see it is possible, just need to find the right bank. She will have all her documentation with her so that will help. There are a number of different banks in the city, TD is one of them. Thanks!
