It depends on the document, for example Police Clearance (3 months validity), IELTS (2 years validity), ECA report (5 years validity) and so on.
Police clearance certificates just changed. Now they are valid for 6 months from the country where you currently live, and must be obtained after leaving all other countries you have lived in - but then they are valid indefinitely.

Wish they had changed that before I ran around like a chicken without a head, getting new police clearances from multiple countries every 3 months!

Document: Proof of Medical Exam
You require a medical exam.
Instructions on how to get an upfront medical exam are available at:
Opens a new window
In order to submit your online application, you will need to upload either the information printout sheet, or the IMM 1017B Upfront Medical Report form. Your doctor will give you one of these documents when you complete your medical exam.

About this here , can we do upfront medical or we need to have the ITA first and do it after? cause here says about the upfron medical check

I am understanding from this post is that there are 2 medical exams. One is upfront and other is the regular one. Upfront you can do before you get an ITA so that you can save time when you get an ITA. Other- the regular one is you do when you get an ITA.. is that right?

please correct me if i am wrong. Can we go for a medical exam knowing that we might get selected in next round of invitations?

Nope.. There is only one medical exam. You need to get it done when you have the ITA. The medical exam can only be done at designated institutions and depending on where you live, CIC will give you a list.

Hi Sarb,

Thanks for this information. I am bit confused with POF

"If you are applying for permanent residence in Canada, you must provide an official letter issued by your financial institution indicating your financial profile."

What does CIC mean by Financial institution and my profile? Does it mean getting a letter by my bank where I hold my funds?

hi..i hope someone hs heard anything like my friend's case.
He got his ITA then one of the requirements that wasnt guess not so good was he just borrowed money as a proof of funds. ANd just submitted a certificate instead of statement which his consultant said it was just fine...would it be a cause of refusal?

Request to moderators,

can you please highlight / pin this post and make it listed at the top, like the "Express Entry Step by step instructions" post in our forum.

Hi there,

I have a question regarding this PCC.
I have never lived in the US but visit and stay for like 3-4 months every year for the last 2 years (my family stays in the US). I live in Nigeria.
After I finished filling the EE forms, a checklist came up asking me for multiple PCC.
My understanding is that since I have never lived in the US, I do not need a PCC from the US. But I dont know why I am being asked for multiple. Do they add up the years? Or does it say multiple for everyone. Has anyone been in this situation before? IS there a way to know which ones I am required to submit? Please help me. This thing is very confusing.

Hi drpilot,
It says multiple for everyone, it just means that that if an applicant's application needs more than one it should be uploaded together. In my case, it also said multiple but I only needed one from Jamaica and I only uploaded the one.
This is what the cic website says:
"The personalized document checklist provided to applicants in their MyCIC account does not prompt applicants for individual PCs based on their declared residence and travel history; rather, applicants must determine which PCs are required as part of their application and must compile the PCs into a single file, to upload as a single supporting document."

You have to do it after you get ITA. Just a matter of getting appointment and completing your tests. You need to upload e-Medical Information sheet as acknowledgment.
