Hello,
Some documents I would like to submit are 4 months old (birth certificate, letters from friends, etc). They don't have any mention of an expiry date apart from the police certificate from my spouse that will expire in 2 weeks.
Is it okay to submit those documents please? I heard the documents have to be recent (less than 3 months) but I can't get a confirmation, thanks.

3 months requirement can be found in many IRCC documents but it is related to signatures on the forms only. Example:
"Where the date on an application is more than three months old (90 calendar days) when received (staledated), or where the date is a date in the future (postdated), the application will be treated as if it is unsigned."
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/canadian-citizenship/admininistration/general-file-processing/accepting-applications.html
This is why it's important to re-check all signatures before submitting back a returned application.

But yeah... people then start to interpret things in most weird way possible. Your birth certificate expires when you do.
