Hi Friends,
I am an anaesthetist, applied on Jan 6,2011. I am a visiting consultant to many private hospitals though I do not have a job. I am looking forward to meet forum mates who are in the same boat as me.

I am surprised there are no doctors from India on this forum. If there are some, please post in. We might find many topics of common interest.

I think they might be "out", Royalman. Better monitor VS and keep the IVs running until they come round. ;)

hi royalman,

I am a doctor. I want to apply for canada pr. Can you help me with the format of the experience letter.Because from visa office specific checklist, I am unable to understand how detailed my duties should be. should I include working hours, night duties etc. I don't have any contract letter. Can I still apply for canada pr? Another doubt is about internship. should I mention it in the work experience or in educational period. Where are you in the process of PR? Did you receive anything from canada embassy?

Which year did you finish your internship and what have you been doing after that ( jobs or practice?) . I can guide you better if you provide this info.
Happy to help.

I finished my MBBS in 2003 december. I am working in a hospital as employee.Because I see one of them(gynecologist) got rejected in this forum because he didn't have enough essential duties in the experience letter. So I am worried.

Include your degree, MCI registration copy and provide your experience letter on the letter head of the hospital which should describe the following;

*Clearly state the date of joining, date of leaving, name of the post you worked as ( eg. Resident Medical Officer ) and salary drawn.

* Most importantly, the duties you performed during your job( duties of an MBBS doctor) should be described in detail . You can get some idea
from the canadian website that describes these duties ;

Examine patients and take their histories, order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures and consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health
Prescribe and administer medications and treatments
Perform and assist in routine surgery
Provide emergency care
Provide acute care management
Inoculate and vaccinate patients
Deliver babies and provide pre-natal and post-natal care
Advise patients and their families on health care including health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention
Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues
Perform patient advocacy role
Co-ordinate or manage primary patient care
Provide continuous care to patients
Supervise home care services
Report births, deaths, and contagious and other diseases to governmental authorities.

Thank you very much coolbreeze. So the documents mentioned by you are enough, right! or Do we need anything more than a experience letter, like, recomendation letters. As there are different things mentioned in the forum to compensate the lack of Contract letter which I didn't find in the Visa office specific checklist. Does it effect my application, If I am unemployed for a year after my Degree. Should I mention INTERNSHIP in the workexperience or in education.

Regarding submission: should I keep copies of all forms as per visa office checklist and original forms for CIO checklist. Where should I keep original IELTS Report. Along with CIO checklist or Visa office specific checklist as it was mentioned Original in both checklists.

If you have also been practicing part time ( at home or somewhere else), you can also include your visiting card, a page from your prescription pad,
and copies of your income tax returns. I am sorry, I forgot to mention reference letters which are very important too. Get 2 or 3 them from your seniors at the hospital. Also include copies of your salary slips to prove your are employed. If your employment at the hospital is ongoing (going to continue indefinitely), you must have that mentioned in the experience letter.
Internship is part of the education,, so you cannot claim it as experience. The medical college transcript letter that you must also submit will include it
as a part of your education.
It is ok if you were unemployed for one year after your degree but you must show enough experience in the time after that to get to the passmark.

You must submit original IELTS to CIO. Also Police Clearance has to be sent in ORIGINAL . Keep copies of sent originals for your records..Keep a copy of the complete application package you submit to CIO, for your own records. You won't need to submit anything to visa office again, that you have already sent to CIO.
