Hi everyone...

1. If I remember correctly, I think the CIC recently released a new medical form. In the past, we used to have to submit "Copy 2 of the Medical Report - Section A", but now it seems to have been changed to "Copy 1 of Medical report: Client Biodata and Summary".

My wife did her medical exam on 12 December 2012, and she got the old version (copy 2 - section A), and I just called the doctor's office a few minutes ago, and they confirmed that they still don't have the new IMM 1017 as of today.

We're just about ready to mail our application package to CPC-Mississauga tomorrow, but we're worried whether the old "Copy 2 - Section A" that we're submitting will still be valid and accepted by the visa office??!

2. Unrelated to the above: there are forms that are not applicable to us, such as IMM 0008 DEP (we have no children or dependants), IMM 5476 (we are not using a representative), IMM 5409 (we are married, not common law).

To save some ink and papers is it okay if we DON'T submit these forms at all, and instead indicate on the checklists that those forms are not applicable for us?

Hi Fandv

1. The use of the new forms and IMEI by panel physicians and RMOs will become mandatory as of November 1 2012, in anticipation of the eMedical implementation and the new release of GCMS 4.0.

Background

Until now, all immigration medical examinations have been completed by panel physicians using a paper-based system. After the forms were completed, they were sent by panel physicians to the various RMOs for medical assessment. With the implementation of eMedical and the electronic submission of immigration medical examinations, all forms have been revised and some new ones have been added to comply with the new eMedical environment as well as the new GCMS release. All panel physicians, eMedical-enabled or not, will be required to use them.

From the passage above the use of the revised forms are mandatory , whether the doctor is using emedical system or not.

you can talk to other panel physicians in your region to confirm if such new forms are available,

2. Yeah you can leave them behind and you put N/A in the checklist.

Thanks for the reply, camelboy.

Well as mentioned in my first post, I called the DMP's clinic, and they confirmed that they didn't have the new forms yet, which is why I'm worrying...

I meant try to call other Panel phycisians in your region, in Jakarta alone have 4 Panel Physicians, there could be a possibility hat your doctor has missed some communication from CIC or CIC didn't update him regarding the new forms.

Also lets wait to hear from other applicants who applied after November 1st.

I too am interested in this topic. I had my medical done here in Manila on 26 December 2012 and was given a Copy 2. I hope they would still accept this since it isn't our fault anyway.

Hi guys this is a passage i copied from Panel Members Handbook - EXCERPT - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/partner/pp/pdf/handbook-extract.pdf

Panel members performing IMEs in a region where eMedical has been implemented must use the system to complete and submit all IMEs. Designation as a panel member is dependent on the ability to use the eMedical system. Only in the event of a system outage should paper IMEs be used by eMedical-enabled panel members.

From my understanding there is a possibility that the emedical system is implemented in specific regions, but there are no other details in the handbook

Hmm interesting...I didn't realise there are 4 panel physicians in Jakarta now. In December there was only 1. Well the 4 of them belong to the exact same clinic, and even share the same address and phone number, and are helped by the exact same staff, so I suspect that the other 3 wouldn't have the new form, just like the 1 that performed my wife's examination...

Tomorrow I will try and call the 2 clinics in Bali and Surabaya...let's see if they have the new forms already. These places are thousands/almost thousands of kilometers from Jakarta though...
