Hi Doctors! We all know that licensing of General Physician / specialist is a lengthy and uncertain process for immigrant physician in Canada. As alternative profession, I have found the followings. Let us share our views, experience in Canada and future thoughts regarding the following alternatives:

1. Physician assistant
2. Medical office assistant
3. Clinical Research Associate
Public health/community health
4. Diagnostic Sonography,
5. Occupational health and safety
6. Anesthesia Assistant
Cardiovascular Perfusion
7. Diabetes Educator
8. Respiratory therapist
9. Sleep Medicine Technology
Clinical Laboratory Quality Manager
Diagnostic Cytology
10. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI
11. Licensed Practical nurse

Please add professions which you feel levelheaded and can be adopted by physician. We should also discuses about the pathways of adopting theses professions.
Thanks

U cant apply if u dont have minimum 1 year continuous paid work experience.

I am a silent reader of this forum. Thanks for all the contributions which helped me understand a lot about the process. I hope I can contribute to newbies in future.

I plan to apply under NOC 3112. I am a IMG worked in a hospital in Pakistan in 2001. In addition, I also had my own private clinic. I have a question on the experience.

So, when I file the application, what documents should I submit to show my experience. what document should I submit as proof to show my private clinic experience?

Thanks for the reply in advance.

MUST READ PLEASE, WHAT CANADIAN MINISTER SAYS ABOUT DOCTORS;

These are significant steps forward to ensuring processes are fair, consistent, transparent and above all timely. As I mentioned, Canada’s Economic Action Plan invested $50 million in order to continue our work with the provinces on this new approach. We’re doing a lot of other interesting programs. I’ll just give you one example.

In Edmonton I met a medical doctor trained in Syria, an obstetrician. She was trained there, delivered hundreds of babies, moved to Canada with a dream of becoming a practicing physician here and has instead been cleaning hotel rooms for the past six years. That’s the human tragedy of this. The woman was in tears when she explained to me her sense of humiliation and struggle and disappointment.

In a sense there’s too many people like that to whom we sell the dream of working in their profession in Canada implicitly through our immigration process but for whom the dream has turned out to be a disappointment. We must do what we can to open up the doors of opportunity for women and men like that.

I met her in the context of a program we were launching in Edmonton to give foreign trained physicians like her who had for various reasons been unable to obtain their licensing through the medical college, the physicians’ college, training on how to become paramedics in Canada. We took a group of 40 foreign trained physicians there in Edmonton, training them on the technical aspects of working as a paramedic in Canada so they could at least get their foot into the labour market in the medical profession, develop some Canadian work experience, learn some of the different Canadian specific aspects of patient care, and also have the emotional and professional satisfaction of at least working with patients.

We are funding and piloting programs like that right across the spectrum of regulated professions. Having said that, Canadians certainly don’t want us to lower Canadian standards. They don’t want people who aren’t up to the Canadian standard as engineers building our bridges. They don’t want people operating on us who aren’t properly trained surgeons.

We can’t ask the licensing bodies to reduce their requirements and that’s not what this is about. It’s about having a streamlined and reasonably quick process for credential recognition. If their qualifications don’t measure up to Canadian standards, at least we can tell them how much additional training they might need or if they might want to look into work in a similar field where they still might be able to apply their skills and experience.

Hello Everyone,
Is this read dead or something?
Let's not kill it-I think it will help a lot of us 3112 applicants.

It is true that doctors are busy and they have relatively short time for such activities but for community welfare we should spend sometime on this thread .I hope it would be helpful in the end .Best of Luck. :)

Hello king khan where are you sir ,No response even on your cell.

Hi everyone, :)
I just received my PER alh. (thank god),
& I had my mind made that if I were to get it, I would then start immediately the study & search for a position in Canada..

Still, I need a serious study partner/partners & someone/many-ones who wants to go through the long road :) but still by Allah's (god's) will the best for us doctors. :)

I am still to study & enter the first part MCCEE inshAllah (by god's will), but I am going to try doing it as fast as I can..

I do not know if someone has already mentioned such a suggestion within the thread, because I haven't -yet- read all the pages (well, they really are many). If someone previously suggested a similar thing, please tell me.. maybe then I can get in touch with him/them.

best regards & good luck everyone

basmalahh

N.B. This thread IS very important, thus I'll try to keep it a bit livelier by trying to post in it more often :)
Thanksssss..
