Hi everyone,
Just wanted to know if you get all the documents submitted returned after you get your COPR papers.
We've sent the embassy original documents that would be such a pain to get again...
Thanks :)

It seems to depend on the visa office. We received zero back from my husband's application. However I know others have had different experiences.

If you sent original documents when they asked for copies, you may not get them back but if they asked for mandatory originals, such as marriage or birth certificates, they should be returned.

We got our photos and mandatory original documents back, but they kept everything else that were photocopies.

We received all of our pictures back rougly a month before the passport request to affix the visa in the passport and send the COPR. My country-specific instructions never asked for any original documents, and I did not receive any back.

I don't believe we had to send originals but we didn't get anything back.

Thanks for the info :)
Were applying from Argentina and had to send original birth certificate, marriage certificate, and police background check all with original translations (which cost a fortune). So fingers crossed we will be getting those back!

Our visa office was CPP-Ottawa: We didn't send in any original documents other than a few boarding passes and some letters/cards. We got nothing back. Wished we got the letters/cards back but oh well.

Which one is your VO?

VO:Ottawa

The first time we applied was inland, and we withdrew it long before processing and got a monetary refund. They were supposed to send back all our documents since it was a withdrawl, but we got nothing.

The second time we just applied this year outland, no really important documents as everything was scanned or copied (our pics were just cheap Walmart prints), but again nothing back.

I'd be pretty miffed if they don't send back your original documents.

Buenos Aires. Seems they do their own stuff at this office!

I'm more worried about an original police record that we had to get dug up from 1997! Took ages!

If there's a specific document you want back, I'd let them know via a case specific enquiry asap. While some officers in some VO do send select documents back, you can't really count on it.

Agreed. I think you can count on getting the birth certificate and marriage certificate back. I wouldn't count on the police certificates unless you specifically ask.
