If that were to happen people would be all up in arms suing the government for invading their privacy and screaming that the Canadian government is an Orwellian Big Brother who knows every single move they make.

As long as you are willing to give permission, it should be fine.

I totally agree that the government is intentionally trying to delay the citizenship through the RQ process specially for permanent residents from South Asia and Middle East. A class action lawsuit is the only way to end this discrimination.

Confirmation of what? People with "residential ties" to Canada are required to file Canadian taxes, even if they never set foot in the country during the tax year.
