- Tell us which countries you have held status in, and exactly what status you held or currently hold (student, employment/worker, refugee/protected person, permanent resident or citizen).
I am not able to get my head around this question so some help would be appreciated: "Do you currently, or have you ever held immigration or citizenship status in a country or territory other than Canada (this includes your country of birth)?"
The guide explains it as: "Tell us if you have had immigration, permanent resident status and/or citizenship in any other country outside of Canada (e.g. your country of birth) "
In what situation will a person ever answer this as a No?
If I am citizen by birth of another country, what should I put as the "date obtained or effective date"? My birthday date, the issue date of my latest passport, or the issue date of my first-ever passport of that country?

Most people will answer YES to this question.
Some people could be born stateless. For example, children of foreign diplomats in Canada do not become Canadian citizens by birth even though they are born in the country. If they are unaware of this regulation and the said foreign diplomat doesn't bother getting the child the citizenship of their home country, they will be stateless and not have the citizenship of any country.
Here's the evidence for the example mentioned above.

That is what the "application guide" says. However, the application form itself does list "visitor" as one of the statuses in that section:

If the application form has visitor in the dropdown, select it and enter the visitor visa details. I understand that the instruction guide doesn't have this information yet but when the application for explicitly shows that option, use it and provide the details.That is what the "application guide" says. Hey I was super confused with this question too so I included all visitor statuses I had since I turned 18. I used my travel dates as technically that’s what visitor status entails the date I enter the country and leave I have “visitor status” during my stay. I mentioned I use to have a lot of visitor statuses prior to turning 18 but cannot remember due to it being such a long time ago and to contact me if further info is required in a letter of explaination. I basically used my travel history from my pr app to help me track down all my visitor statuses

In the older application forms (before October 2020), there were no dropdowns and there was nothing in the instruction guide to indicate the details of the visitor visa needs to be entered for Q13. So, people generally did NOT enter visitor visa information when the old application forms were still in place.
I worked in UAE so I had till date only included that as an immigration status in addition to the Indian citizenship in the Canadian citizenship application form
But now I will have to include visitor status for other countries too Germany, US, Saudi... list goes on

The question I have however is this immigration status required for a period of 5 year or 4 years or lifetime ?LOL. Well, good luck with that
