Do they actually assess the application.

Your son should apply on his own and should have no problem getting a TRV if he is continuing his studies in Canada after attending g grade 11. The major issue is there are concerns that the whole family or at least one parent will remain in Canada. Would only apply for one parent if you want to try and accompany your son to Canada.
1.do you have funds 15000 CAD+ available at the end of closing balance 5000cad Per person for 10 days.. if not, then it is the issue
2. Property can be sold any time money can be transferred any time. Fixed assets do not add value if the whole family is traveling together.
3. Same with Education your son could go back to india finish his high school and come back
4. You choose tourism yet you were intending to visit a relative memeber nephew. Why did you provide extra information? Who knows your relatives can you help you stay in Canada. Irrelevant information. If you say tourism, then stick to tourism. Thats why it is not consistent.
5. Sometimes luck plays a main role as well.

or if you were to apply again for tourism, apply by yourself, then visit canada and come back to india. Afterwards your stay in India and your wife/son can apply together.

just my thinking i can be wrong or true. You can apply for detailed refusal notes online then you will know exactly what went through the mind of the visa officer.

each case is different small details make a huge difference in the minds of teh visa officer. In a lucky day , a visa officer may ignore them.

In the end, i like your attitude. It is not the end of the world. You can explore more beautiful countries in Europe or elsewhere.

As a bit of a workaround, you can try your luck with a visa for the US. You'd be putting up more or less the same B.S. as with Canada, but if you get a US visa you're much more likely to get approved for Canada. I agree with you that the IRCC is an incompetent mess, personally I dread dealing with those dizzy idiots, but Canada itself is a good country. For context, I'm a Canadian citizen, but my wife and daughter are Chinese - somehow these maniacs are able to approve my wife's TRV application but leave my daughter's in "processing" for weeks longer, in spite of them being submitted simultaneously and being linked. 75 days and counting now, summer holiday plans are pretty much ruined.

Also, you can request GCMS notes (crap system that makes you pay 5$ and wait a few weeks to get perhaps more detailed reasons for refusal, classic federal government nonsense but might have some useful info)

If you haven’t actually gone to the US then getting a US visa won’t help much. It is also taking around a year to get an interview for a US visa in most parts of the world.
