I have got police clearance from india.. do i need one from Canada too.. I am currently living in canada

Police clearance is not a requirement at the time of application, but it is recommended so the PR process isn't slowed down later on if it is requested.
You are to submit original copies of PCC in every country you've lived in for over 6 months. So if you've lived in Canada for over 6 months for any point in time then the answer is YES.

No, you don't.

From the guide:

"You and your family members who are 18 years of age and older and are not permanent residents or Canadian citizens must provide:

valid police certificate, or
police clearance, or
record of no information.

These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six (6) consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18."

As you are living in Canada, so you don't need Canadian police clearance.
