I got my Acknowledgement of Receipt which I believe this IMM5794_1-L5PGBNS pdf is. I read in the pdf that I should apply for BOWP if my work permit is expiring.
I thought I have Implied Status as soon as I send my e-APR before my PGWP expires?

No, you do not have implied status.

You will only have implied status if you apply for a BOWP before your PGWP expires. If you do not apply for a BOWP, then you will fall out of status once your PGWP expires.

I'm not currently working though but I am searching for a job while waiting for my PR application and intend to work soon. I'm just thinking it might be a waste paying for a BOWP when I won't be needing it when I get my PR. Let me know what you think.

NO, you DO NOT.

You need to have applied for BOWP to have implied status. You can only do this if your current WP is set to expire within 4 months.

Then don't do it. You are not forced to do so.

You will just have to leave the country by the day your PGWP is set to expire.

Also, how are you expecting to find a job and continue to work without having a valid status in Canada?

This only works if you plan on leaving Canada once your PGWP ex[ores and then plan on waiting for your CEC application to be finalized outside of Canada.

Otherwise this is a bad plan since this will put you out of status in Canada. If you want to stay in Canada and wait for your application to be finalized, you need to apply for the BOWP to keep your status legal.
