Hi,

Lets say someone has multiple passports over the years that have accumulated as they expire after every 10 years. IRCC only requires the most recent passport to be scanned an submitted. How would they know if that person has disclosed all of his/her past travels? What if someone omits a travel abroad?

Thanks!

I would assume CIC reserves the rights to request applicants to back submitted travel history with evidence of not purposefully omitting certain travel details. If they have any doubt (based on common sense maybe) they can simply ask for the old passports. If an applicant gets caught in not giving the full truth (misrepresentation), he/she will be in big trouble.

I know of some people who are scanning old passports, to be certain, and uploading them.

I am not sure whether this is completely necessary, though. Because if they have any doubts, as dannyhcean says, they can just request additional info like your old passport.

I'm sure that not uploading your old passport won't be a cause for rejection.

So my question is, how would CIC have a suspicion? What would cause CIC to request an old passport to confirm if the candidate and his/her spouse travelled to, lets say china for 6 months, if you're an australian citizen?

In my opinion it is highly unlikely, isnt it?

I'm uploading my older passport, which has all my more comprehensive travel history and stamps, just to be certain

CIC has a very stringent security check which uses various local and international agencies to vet an application. However the basis of going through the process is also based on the travel history as claimed by you. They will cross check a details you have mentioned in your application. Like place of birth, job location, company head office location, other work related travel etc to identify you possible travel history. If they have any doubts they will also you you for more details about your travel history. However one can always have lost of damaged an older passport so that can not be relied upon as necessary to submit to CIC. But the onus of proving your travel history if specifically requested by CIC, is on you.

Having said that there is no concrete way for CIC to know where you been. The cost of misrepresentation is therefore very high.

But you don't need to, you're disclosing more info than what is needed and that is fine, but an overkill in my opinion.

@kuber101 Yes, you hit the nail on the head. Omissions are extremely difficult to be caught. Even within a country all government agencies dont talk with each other - what are the chances of international agencies co-operating with each other to find an omission? Possible - yes. Likely - hell not.

By the way, I ask this question not because I have something to hide, but because my wife ( whose points are not being claimed) has lost her passport and doesn't remember details of her travel 15 years ago.

BTW you need to mention your travel history for only past 10 years. Though you do need to submit a pcc for any country where you have commutatively resided for more than 6months.
