Hi all,
Have a question
I worked as an ESL teacher in 2 different institutes. Each term ( and sometimes each week) I had different amount work hours , Now want to get my employment letter to apply for PR. How should I mention about the hours I worked? For example one week I worked 20 hours and one week up to 48 hours.
Please help me if you know the answer.
Thank you

Do you have any proof for self-employment? Invoices to clients? Contracts or agreements? Certificate of incorporation?

You need to try for CLB 9, it will be a big boost to your points, so that's at least 8 in Listening and 7 in the other skills.

The CEC only draws are mainly due to the pandemic, as other countries open up after their lockdowns, it's expected all program draws will resume, but we don't know when that will be. It's relatively safe to assume it will be CEC only draws for the next couple of months, which is to your advantage.

Yes, it's why the cut-off score has decreased so much, because FSW candidates are being excluded from the draws.
I should say I really appreciate your valuable information.
Yes, I have a ton of self-employment evidence consisting of business tax declaration, certificate of incorporation, employee compensation plan, pension, invoices to clients, bank statements, and remittances received from clients.
What I don't have is reference letters and written contract since I was always contracted verbally.
I'm contacting my clients, asking for letters, now. Hopefully they will provide it for me.

I'm so ready to take IELTS to get my score bumped up. As you said, it will give me a huge boost.
Would they acknowledge the plus scores out of new IELTS result with CLB 9 post ITA?

It was only verbally contracted. Although I have all my bank statements for the entire duration of employment. It shows regular payments from her for 8 months.
Also, I actually have a reference letter from her, which was issued in August 2013, saying that I had been employed since April 2013. However, I believe this doesn't prove my total work history of April - October 2013.

Yes, I'm in Canada, and I already have 3 years of inland work experience. My employer is happy with me, and he wants to help me to go thru my immigration. However, I heard that LMIA is not a guaranteed option for 50 points. So my last chance seems to be IELTS.
Do you have any suggestions?
If you have only 8 months of foreign work experience that will be useless for you.

As far as I am concerned you can only count foreign experience when it has been continuous for a period of 1 or more years. You cannot add up periods of Employment of less than a year.

Alternatively, if you cannot support any claimed work experience you get a chance to justify why that is. For example, you could attach a copy of the emails you've been sending and the responses, along with any documents such as payslips, contract, offer of employment, etc.

That's interesting!!
I didn't know that work experience less than 1 successive year is not counted as foreign work experience.
Is this reliable information?
If so, I don't have a point asking her for a reference letter any more because I worked for her only for 8 months.
Thanks for advice.

I didn't considee my foreign work experience when I applied because I was well above the cut-off so I didn't want to go through the hustle.

I'm not entirely sure, I know that for FSW foreign experience must be continuous for each year. I don't think it's different for foreign experience when applying under CEC.

It's something worth looking into though, just in case.

Provide the range of hours per week. Can you calculate an average for the entirety of your work experience?
Thank you for your response
Do you mean the average work per week? I worked for one of the institutes 475 hours in total during 17 weeks (4 months and a week)

Yes, then you could tell your employer to provide the average on your work reference letter, i.e. she worked an average of 28 hours per week over the course of her period of employment.

I really don't see why you shouldn't claim the self-employment then, you seem to have enough evidence. Just explain it carefully and in detail how your business worked in your LOE, and what the services you provided were, which should match the duties and responsibilities of the NOC you claim for that experience.

I'm not sure if they will consider amendments to your IELTS post-ITA, generally your application is locked once you receive it. But it can't hurt to have it and provide the details by webform, if you achieve CLB 9.

This is not correct. You are quoting the minimum criteria for FSW, but the OP qualifies for CEC, so this is not relevant. For CRS purposes, you can add up any foreign work experience in the last 10 years in multiple NOCs without the need for it to be continuous.

What is true is that 8 months of foreign work experience on its own (or Canadian exp, for that matter) is useless because you only get points for more than a year.
Thank you for clarification.
So, as long as the total sum of all my foreign employment periods exceed 1 year, I'm safe. For example, 3 months + 2 months+ 8 months =13 months would work.

I'm mostly worried about getting reference letters in regard to my self-employment.
This is due to the fact that I had only 2 on-going clients, and I read somewhere that you need at least 3 references for claiming self-employment experience. Maybe I'm over worried, but there's not many threads/ reliable information online about self-employment claiming for me to refer to..

Depends on whether it gives you any benefit in terms of points or eligibility. If not, leave it out.
Oh ok! I just have another company I worked for but will complete 12 months in Mid July or mid August. But I was thinking of adding this company I worked for since I have all the relevant documents just so I can speed up the days before applying for my EE PROFILE
