Disadvantages of declining the ITA?

Hi,

I got ITA last time with 460 points. The minimum score at that round was 452.
Now I'm struggling to gather all my reference letter to prove my foreign work experience, If I can't get them all, I might end up having my final point as 422.

I believe I should decline the current ITA and take IELTS to bump up my score.
What are the disadvantages of declining the ITA? Do they give any penalty ?

No penalty for declining your ITA.

But think very well before declining, is there no way you can get these references?

Nothing happens, you'll just go back into the pool but you should adjust your profile to make it accurate and reflect what you can actually provide evidence of.

I've been calling the owner of the company for 2 weeks, but she's either avoiding calls or whatsoever.
It'll be easier if I can get the letter from previous co-workers but I believe that's not valid.
I mean I still have 40 days to try. So I'll keep trying. Thanks for response.

Speaking of evidences, would it be not strong enough if I present just a reference letter itself without any bank statements, etc.?

I don't get what the problem is, with 552 points you have nothing to worry about.
That amount of points will secure you an ITA every single round.

Why would you even want to increase your IELTS?

My bad, I was confused of the scores. As revised, my score was 460 at the time of round. Without foreign work experience, it drops to 422.
That's why I'm desperate.

Then chase down that reference, go knock on their door, tell them you really need it.

I really don't know when the cut-off score will go down to 460 if they resume all program draws soon, this seems to me like your best chance and you've already gotten the ITA.

You can't miss out because someone should give you a reference and you haven't received it.

Thank you for being a support.
I can't agree more with you that this ITA is a great chance for me. I would have already gone to their company if I could. Unfortunately, I'm in Canada now, while her company is in Australia.
I'll keep emailing / calling her.
My best guess is that she's doing something illegal and doesn't want to be involved in my official application... Who knows.

Do you have your contract of employment? Any other supporting documents?

If you're in Canada, it means your score will keep increasing with Canadian work experience, which means you have a good chance of improving your score in the future.

It was only verbally contracted. Although I have all my bank statements for the entire duration of employment. It shows regular payments from her for 8 months.
Also, I actually have a reference letter from her, which was issued in August 2013, saying that I had been employed since April 2013. However, I believe this doesn't prove my total work history of April - October 2013.

Yes, I'm in Canada, and I already have 3 years of inland work experience. My employer is happy with me, and he wants to help me to go thru my immigration. However, I heard that LMIA is not a guaranteed option for 50 points. So my last chance seems to be IELTS.
Do you have any suggestions?

LMIA is a long, complicated process, it's better if you can qualify without it.

I understand, it will be tough to get this employment verified. I'm just wondering if there is any way they will accept it without any documentation, it seems unlikely.

Why do you lose so many points without this employment period? How much foreign work experience do you have with it? 3 years at least?

As a CEC candidate, you will probably get at least another chance for an ITA with a CEC only draw, but we're not sure how for long that will be.

What are your IELTS results? Do you have CLB 9?

I have the same worry. My score was 469 when the cut off was 464, only 5 pts higher.I kept on thinking if I should decline it then wait for a lower cut off to at least widen the gap, but I’m having 2nd thoughts too..stressful indeed..I’m also worried about my foreign work, what if they don’t accept it in..so many what if’s..haven’t even submitted mine too..

I have 37 months total of foreign work experience including this problematic employer. However, 21 months out of 37 months was self-employment (which is another headache).

If I don't declare self-employment, My work experience becomes 37-21=16 months. This gives me 38 points.
If I can't get a letter from this employer, 16 months becomes 8 months and I lose 38 points.

I'm looking into ways to prove self-employment but it seems to involve with much more paperwork.

My IELTS is CLB 8.

I'm quite new to EE.
How often is there CEC only draw? It seems they drew CEC 3 times in a row recently. Is this why the minimum score got lowered significantly?

Do you have any proof for self-employment? Invoices to clients? Contracts or agreements? Certificate of incorporation?

You need to try for CLB 9, it will be a big boost to your points, so that's at least 8 in Listening and 7 in the other skills.

The CEC only draws are mainly due to the pandemic, as other countries open up after their lockdowns, it's expected all program draws will resume, but we don't know when that will be. It's relatively safe to assume it will be CEC only draws for the next couple of months, which is to your advantage.

Yes, it's why the cut-off score has decreased so much, because FSW candidates are being excluded from the draws.
