I am on ODSP. I get more money when my husband moves in with me. He will be working but if he gets laid off or whatever and I will end up receive more money from ODSP as he will be my dependent. Do I then owe the government that money back? Will I then be in default of the sponsorship agreement? I can't even get a hold of anyone from the Canadian government to ask. When I call and go through the 15 minute menu I press talk to a person it then says they're too busy and hangs up on me. I have no idea how to find out this information.

i don't *think* disability is included in this rule, as i don't think it's considered welfare. hopefully a senior memeber will come along and confirm this info.

Thanks! I know that I can still qualify for sponsorship I just worry that if he does lose his job and we get more money from ODSP that I have to pay it back. :(

ODSP is not welfare...so you are good to go!!

It's not like welfare where you wouldn't be able to get it while you are a sponsor or where you would need to pay it back if your spouse were to get it.

again, i don't think so, because technically you are the one receiving the benefit, not him. No mattter how large your family, you are still receiving the benefit in your name, not your dependant's. even if he did file his own claim, i don't think it's the benefit included in the undertaking.

Great Thanks!
