Hey,

I'm looking to move to Canada and I'm the director of a business in the UK. Which visa/work permit is best to go through?

I am also a British National.

Will this conflict with taxation at home?

Thanks,

Tom

If you're looking to move temporarily, then the company employing you in Canada needs to obtain an approved LMIA so that you can then apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific company and role.

If you are looking to move permanently, then you'll need to look into Canada's immigration programs to see what it takes to qualify and apply. I would recommend you start with the Express Entry program which is a points based immigration program. Right now you need to have 440 or more points to be selected. Details here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...ces/immigrate-canada/express-entry/works.html

Sorry, I don't think I made myself very clear. I own the business in the UK and I won't be working for another company in Canada. I'll be drawing my wage from the UK business (I can work remotely).

There's no such visa.

So is there a workaround? Maybe the IEC option?

This was already covered in your other thread - recommend you re-read the information there.

IEC is a work permit. Yes - that's feasible. There are no further IECs available for this year (cap has been reached). The IEC program for those from the UK is always oversubscribed. So you'll need to put your profile in when the program opens for next year and hope you are selected (selection is random).

Fully aware of the information there, thank you. Was just checking that it wouldn't cause a conflict of interest with taxation or if there was a more convenient way about this.

Thank you
