Diploma as language proof - photocopy acceptable?

I also have a question regarding the language requirement.
on the application form "CIT0002E", under language evidence (7), it says: "Diploma, certificate of transcript of a secondary ot post-seconday education in English or French". I will finished my PhD at McGill in Feb. 2014. I will apply for citizenship at the end of April 2014. I asked the school and by the end of April, school will give me transcripts showing that I have been graduated. However, I will receive my diploma after graduation ceremony in May.

From the application form, I canot understand whether it is "diploma or transcript" or "diploma and transcript". Can anyone help?

What does it mean by "certidicate of transcript"? Is a transcript in a sealed envelope issued by McGill good enough?

i requested official transcripts from my university and never opened the envelope and submitted it with the application. I also took copy of my DEgree and enclosed it as well.

Thanks Sept15 for your answer.

Have you heard that someone only submitted a transcript and CIC accepted that as the proof of language?

As I mentioned, my diploma will not be ready by June and I want to apply for citizenship in April.
I should decided whether to spend the money and time and take a language test.

Hi Kazmsd,
No, I do not know of any. If you submit your official transcripts you should be fine 'if your diploma' is accepted (I mean, have they mentioned that diplomas are acceptable or does it need to be a undergraduate degree). In fact, a copy of the 'diploma' and 'transcripts' does not make any difference - they should be acceptable. If you do not want to wait, write the CELPIP test which is relaly easy and costs about 115 dollars and you get the results in 1 week - just to be confident and comfortable. Its worth it OR you can call 1800 number and see if the diploma transcripts are acceptable. I would recommend CELPIP if you are worried.

Actually I have sent 3 times more documents that they required just because I had them like: T4s for the last 4 years, CRA assessment results for the last four years, a letter from HR that that i have been working for the last four years, ALL PAGES of the passport since 2003.. yes all pages, lol... Utility bills, copies of all the temporeary permits since 2004 (study, work, etc.), land titlement document that i own a house, and paystubs... so if they ask for anything NEW i dont have any,.lol

Thanks Woodex for answer.
And they accepted "just your transcript" as the proof of language?
Have you submitted any other documents as the proof of language?

I sent an unofficial transcript (printed it off my University's portal). No complains from the CIC. I don't recall if the application said that the transcript had to be official.

I think you are right. Here it says "A diploma or transcripts from a secondary ..." Nothing about the transcript being official
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/CIT0002ETOC.asp#CIT0002E4

Did you just include the transcript for the proof of language or you also enclose other documents?

Diploma from Canadian School/College will serve the language proof. You do not need to provide anything original at all. I didn't provide any original document to cic.

I will be going for Oath Ceremony on Nov 25, 2013 and I submit my application on April 3, 2013.

Thanks
