Hello everyone.
I have a question. If you are in canada and your pr card is about to expire & you are only 30 days short for residency obligation. How much chances are there that your pr card will get renewed?
Much appreciated if someone can answer ! Thanks.

You can renew the PR card even if you pass the expiry date on the card as long as you meet the RO. It's the RO that you can't afford to mess up.

Wait until you are in compliance with the residency obligation before applying. (Most will suggest waiting a bit until you are a bit over the RO minimum)

As long as you are in Canada, the expired PR card is fine, you are in the country legally, go about your daily life. The only practical constraint in the near term is travel abroad (or more precisely, travel back to Canada).

Thanks for your suggestions.
but in my case even if I stay in canada till the date my card expires, which is in August 2021, I am still 30 days short of those 730 days. That’s my concern is.

I don't understand what your concern is. If you stay in Canada when your card expires, in your case, into September, what happens is ... precisely nothing. You do NOT need a currently valid PR card to remain in country. (And a fairly large number of PRs in Canada - in compliance and not in compliance - have cards that have expired).

You are still a PR in Canada. You are in country legally. No issue. You wait until you are in-compliance before applying for a new PR card. As long as you remain in country, you're fine.

Sorry if am wrong somewhere.
my concern is that my days are short. I am not gonna make complete 730 days till my card expiry date in August 2021.
Is that gonna make any issue?????

Refer to the post from armoured above. Again, this is not a concern. Complete your 730 days obligation in Canada, add in a few more days, and when you are ready, apply for a renewal.

I repeat: no. It does not matter as long as you remain in Canada. The card date is irrelevant. Remain until you meet your 730 days (perhaps plus some for safety) before applying for a new card.

So I can stay in canada with expired pr card as long as my 730 days get complete.
Yes. You could stay for years in Canada with an expired PR card. The PR card is NOT your PR status. You remain a PR if your card expires, if you lose it, if it's stolen, etc.

To explain in a very small bit of additional info: your RO compliance will not be an issue until/if/when you are 'examined.'

Examination means (in simple terms): crossing a border and getting interviewed at the border, OR applying to IRCC for something - like a new PR card. Simple solution: do not get examined until you are in compliance.

In other words, wait to apply for new PR card until you are in compliance.

hello again,
so you are saying that even if my card expires lets say it will expire on 18 august 2021 and I have not completed 730 days till that date.
I can stay more after that date till my days complete to 730 days or more.
Really appreciate your answers.
Thanks.

YES.

How many more explanations do you need before it’s clear? You can have an expired PR card but still have valid PR status. A PR card in simple terms is only essential for travelling outside of Canada.

All you need to know is not to leave Canada if you aren't compliant with your RO. Other than that you will be fine.

hi, I am new to this forum.
I have a question related to my return to canada. Like right now I am stuck outside canada due to covid restrictions.
My card is expiring this year in summer in July. So is it possible that I can return to canada before my card expires.
I mean do CBSA can stop or won't allow me to enter canada.
Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Yes.

Here is simplified guide for what you need to do between 18 August and the date you get your full 730 days, as long as you remain in Canada.

1. Nothing. Just wait.

That's it, the complete instructions.

After that, you can apply for your PR card.
