hi, I am new to this forum.
I have a question related to my return to canada. Like right now I am stuck outside canada due to covid restrictions.
My card is expiring this year in summer in July. So is it possible that I can return to canada before my card expires.
I mean do CBSA can stop or won't allow me to enter canada.
Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Please start your own thread and provide basic details like whether you are in compliance with RO. Your case is quite different from that of the OP who is out of compliance but already in Canada.

(Not that there's anything outright wrong with asking here but because the person who started this thread is getting confused, and easier to discuss cases that are entirely different in different threads)

Also for identification purposes.

That's true of course - but then the question comes up of 'identification for whom?'.

In some circumstances, an expired PR card will be accepted for identification purposes. Some - not. (Notably in some provinces...)

The one where we know it won't be accepted is for boarding a flight back to Canada.

Provincial government departments such as ICBC. Expired PR card will not be accepted.

Hello everyone
My PR card expired in Sep 2019 and I will complete my RO in August 2021, is it ok to apply for renewal or should I wait for another year and directly apply for citizenship. I am bit confused that whether they ask for the reason or not.
Thanks

You should be fine. You may want to apply a few months after you complete ro. Particularly if you have no immediate plan to travel.
