Sydney do most of the processing like back ground check and other major request, local office schedule the test.....also if at the test u receive request for supporting documents u send them to local office.

It all depends on who's desk your file land on....sometimes it all depends on your place of birth.

I think sydney only creates aor and all the processing is done at local office. Sydney does not hv time to do all bg checks for all applicants. That is where local office comes i This way local office will only hv to deal local applications. Point is if sydney starts doing bg then system will crahs as it would hv to do checks for all canada. Therefore once filetransfered to local office actual processing begins. Sydney only does initial screening and creates files. Thats all

Yes because after my file got sent to mississauga, I got a finger print request. So local office will do more work.

Yes u are correct about finger print request by ur local office...u kno why?? Because sydney doesn't receive those kind of documents....Sydney deal with the most significant part of the application....if sydney see a problem in ur application they will return it back to the applicant.
Sydney check ur application for all the documents that they asked for on the checklist...if u have all the documents and ur application is fill out properly...Sydney continued with back ground check....after u have clear ur back ground check sydney forward ur file to local office...when someone get finger print or request for any
Qmore supporting documents it's already noted on ur file from sydney.

Sydney doesnt involve in BG checks. Its local office who does it. Sydney only receives and skims the documents

As some of friends mentioned above, I think most of the process is done by Sydney. I had a look at two ATIP reports and it seems most parts should be done by Sydney. If CJ doesn't ask any new documents or doesn't doubt about anything, the local office will schedule applicants for the test and oath.
My file is still in local office for about 4 months and still I'm waiting for the test. I think the number of applicants, how big the local office is and the place of birth play important role in when you get invited for the test / oath .

i think you r right. Sydney does most of processing. Same thing told by cic rep today. I apologize for earlier posts bcoz i thought sydney just creates file however that is not the case.

Hope this long process get shorter and shorter for everybody. I remember when I came to Canada , the whole procedure were lasting around 6 months from submitting applications to getting the passport.
