I thought CIC encourages people visiting there spouses in Canada who want to apply for PR to apply outland because of the lower waiting times in most other visa offices. They even go on to say that you can apply for an extension of your stay. I have not heard of to many people being denied visitor extension when they have a PR app in process but then again I don't know to many people and just go off of what I read. The border guard has no right to cancel an PR app for intending to visit your spouse in Canada while awaiting the decision of your application. I don't think they have a right to make any decision on a PR app. There are even people who apply for a visiting visa with an outland app in process who clearly state there intentions to visit there spouse in canada while they await the final decision of there PR and are successful on obtaining the visitor visa . Don't worry just relax and enjoy the time with your spouse. Be happy!!!! Don't forget to extend your stay before it expires.

The Border officer wasnt wrong in everything she said but of course she cant cancel it! what she ment i think is the office could refuse it based on her note if they think its a reason or together with other reasons, she seemed just very strict and tried to scare you more than needed for sure, it must be a tactic of them >< so you dont take things too easy. It is just important that you stick to the rules, you are just a visitor and dont ever overstay and yes dont leave the country at all or anymore now. All is fine with your address in canada and that you are there on visitor visa, the only bad thing you did was leaving canada and trying to get back in, but at least the officer was "nice" enough to let you back in, shes is just very suspicious, and in a way understandable, they see and hear a lot all day, i think its hard to judge right everyday on everyone that comes across the border, all the officers hear similiar stories 1000 times a day and some prove to be wrong in the end. I know how it is, i had my share of it too trying to visit my husband, but maybe in some cases understandable. I dont think either, London will just refuse your application because of her note, since there would be more needed to refuse an application, as someone mentioned already if the relationship wasnt genuine and besides that you havent overstayed your visa yet, so it should be ok. Just as mentioned make sure you do leave when its up and the application isnt through yet or get an extension in time!

Hi,

I agree with what others said - dont take any steps for now and wait what London says. I do not think the boarder officer was well informed about the processes. I do not understand why he/she made a note. When I was getting ready to apply for the sponsorship and contacted CIC many times, I was always told that it does not matter whether you apply inland or outland and where you are at the moment - but what you have to do is to make sure that you have a legal status in Canada during the processing time. So from this point of view, the note should not have any impact on your application as long as you stay legally in Canada (meaning not longer than 6 months and if you do stay longer that this, make sure you apply for a visa extension).

Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies and motivation!!

Just out of curiosity does anyone have the link to CICs website where it says that it is okay to visit your spouse in Canada while you apply outland??

Thanks a lot!

in the Inland guide, here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5289ETOC.asp it says:

The family class is aimed at faster processing of spouse or common‑law partner applications from applicants outside Canada.

Processing times for spouses or common‑law partners in Canada are generally longer.

The person being sponsored can apply to a visa office outside Canada to take advantage of the family class processing standard. Processing times for applications processed in Canada are posted on our Web site.

as it's in the "in canada" guideline, it's aimed at people that are in Canada, but still encouraging to apply outland if it's faster...
