A transcript is a copy of the student's academic record, all courses taken and their respective grades with the honour/degree the student is enroled in/has pursued. An
"official" transcript would be issued and sent directly from the school (in most cases, the office of Registrar) with original signature of the authority/registrar wheareas an
"unofficial" one can be obtained from student's portal service and printed out which would not have any signature. The official transcript (comes in a sealed envelope from the school) can be sent either to the student or to the recepient (i.e. other school, employer etc.) with the student's authorization. Sometimes, the official transcript would not be granted as "official" anymore if it's not received in a sealed envelope. So, by no means, you are to open the envelope.
