Hey HongKong Guy,

We haven't submitted our application yet. I was probably asking for clarification on something...that's why you thought the VO had asked for further proof.

In fact, I already have a lot of evidence proving I will return to Canada.

Since I am across the border in the mainland, there is no requirement to get a letter of release from the tax authorities. It is also my understanding that I will not need to resign or show proof of this...at least I hope not...as I am the only one with an income to support my family. My contract allows me to resign if I give 1 month notice or 1 month salary in lieu of notice...so that is also not a problem.

I'm just trying to ensure that I fully understand everything that may happen, but your situation is somewhat different because you didn't supply the VO with proof of your wife's intention to return to Canada when you originally sent your application. I will definitely be doing this, as I don't want any unnecessary delays.

If you have a child together, and if your wife shows proof of intention to return to Canada, there is no way the VO will deny you...so don't worry...just do what they ask...they wouldn't request your wife to quit if they knew you would be rejected...that would be immoral and I doubt the Canadian government would do that to a family...

Is your child a Canadian citizen? Did you apply for proof of canadian citizenship? We did...but we are still waiting, though I have the original receipt from the Consulate and also a copy of the original application form.

Good luck and thanks for your post.

Oh, I thought that you have submitted your application already. Actually, I think that they will ask you for proofs of returning to Canada again as the process is near completion even though you have submitted some proofs in the inital application. It is because they want to make sure that you are really going back to Canada with your wife and kid instead of you staying behind in China to work. After all, this is a family re-union application and they don't want your wife to be left in Canada by herself and may need social assistance. Yes, you may not need the Letter of Release as it is just for HK residents only.

Yes, I agree with you that the Consulate will probably approve our application as it is kinda immoral to ask my wife to quit her job if they knew my application is going to be rejected.

Yes, my son applied for the proof of Canadian Citizenship but we are yet to receive it. It's been six months already.

Cheers,
HK Guy

I doubt they will ask for proof when they read my application and look at my supporting documents. No way...this is going to be the fastest issuance of a PR visa in the history of CIC... ;D

Keep posting in this thread with updates, as your situation seems very similar to mine!

Good luck...you're going to be fine.
