Hi Everyone,
Ours TRV (Both are in Canada right now) is expiring on Oct 5, 2015 and my Work Permit extension is in process (applied in Jul 2015). However spouse is not planning to work so haven’t applied for Open Work Permit.
Can my spouse stay after Oct 5 and if not what would be the next steps to make sure she can stay. Can I apply her TRV without my TRV, as I can only apply for TRV once my WP extension is approved. Please suggest. Thank you.

Primary Applicant: WP Extension in process (applied in Jul 2015)
TRV Expiring: Oct 05, 2015
Question: Can dependent stay after Oct 05 in Canada (home maker so haven’t applied for Open WP)? If not what should be the process to make dependent stay legal.

A TRV is an entry visa. It does not grant status in Canada or allow someone to stay in Canada.

Your spouse must submit an application to extend her stay and change her status to visitor. If she doesn't, she will be in Canada illegally after her current status expires.

Thank you canuck_in_uk for the response.

Well I do not get your point to change her status to visitor as she is already holding V-1 visa. Is this different from TRV (Temp. Resident Visa)? What I understand from TRV is just a stamping to enter in Canada.

Appreciate if you could please clarity what should be done here to extend her stay. Should that be a visitor visa or TRV. Thank you.
