Hello. My daughter and I have had our permanent residency for almost a year now. We are living in BC. We have had some family issues. She is 16 and currently doing the teenage rebellion. The laws here in BC essentially allow her to do as she pleases even though my husband and I are legally and financially responsible for her. She wants to do independent living. I want to take her back to Michigan. She refuses to go.

Do I have any recourse to get her to come with me? Or am I forced to stay here in BC until she reaches the age of 19?

I feel like I'm being held hostage by my teenager. Any ideas or links to a solution would be appreciated.

Thank you.

You can't force her to return to the US.

I can't even force her to come home. At this point, I'm thinking my only option to returning to the US is to plan it out first, locate her and drag her along.

Yep - that sounds like the right way to go. Hope she comes to her senses...

1. It is called kidnapping if you try to force her against her will.

Hi

1. It is called kidnapping if you try to force her against her will.
And abandonment if I leave without her.

I guess my daughter gets to make all of the decisions.
