We just found out that my daughter got pregnant and is now 18weeks on the way while her PR is currently being processed. We are just waiting for PPR, do i need to inform/declare it to CIC immediately?
Thoughts please. Thanks in advance

You only need to declare to CIC if the baby is born before she lands as a PR. If that should happen, then more paperwork and waiting will be in order.

As long as she doesn't get married or live 12 months at same address with the baby's father (or anyone else), then it won't have any impact on the application if it's completed before baby is born.

Hi All,

We are a hairline away in getting the visa, but to avoid being charged of misrepresentations my spouse and I decided to declare to CIC the change in the circumstances of our daughter which eventually will change in our family structure.

We informed that our daughter is still single/unmarried/not in common-law and has no plans to marry. She's still attending her classes despite her condition and still lives with us under our physical, financial and emotional care. She's about to deliver in August this year.

CIC replied and requested for these documents:

-Written explanation from daughter regarding the identity, whereabouts and status of relationship (past and present) with the biological father of her child

-updated PSA CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage Record)

-updated Additional Family Information form (IMM5406) of daughter listing her newborn child (to be submitted once child is born)

-PSA birth certificate for Gerard Patrice (to be submitted once child is born)

Question: Does this means that CIC will delay our visa processing until the child is born and requirements above has been satisfied and therefore no visa will be issued while our daughter is pregnant? Will this new circumstance get our application in jeopardy? What are we to expect in telling the truth to our Visa Office/CIC?

I would very much appreciate if anyone would shed light on this, your valuable experiences will really be of help.

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,
Two Dogs

There is no telling how CIC will proceed with this, or if it will now cause delays.

As mentioned by multiple people there was absolutely no need to inform CIC about the pregnancy. CIC really doesn't care about changes to family circumstances until you actually deliver the baby or become officially married/common-law, and there was zero chance of misrepresentation findings due to a pregnancy. Unfortunately you may have caused unnecessary delays now to your app.

Hmmmm! I'm not so sure you recognized the value which "should" have averted a costly (in terms of delays) mistake. Now the baby will be delivered prior to landing . . .

OMG

We just completely screwed up our application in the intention of just being honest and afraid to be charged of misrepresentation upon landing. :( :( :( :(

The MSP was also our concern and giving birth in canada without an insurance will cost us a fortune. Our latest info is between 6-10G and will still shoot up if there would be complications. A lot of money to lose. We reckon that the probability of landing will just be two months away before delivery date hence MSP coverage could not be availed. Private medical insurances does not cover maternity deliveries.

In our country, deliveries are a lot cheaper plus i can have our daughter covered by the country's medical plan where i am a member.

It was an untimely pregancy and we are not financially prepared if she delivers in canada.

I truly appreciate your thoughts and expertise and thank you for all your replies.

God speed.

I just hope they don't make you have a minimum income to sponsor now, since your dependent will have a child.

If youre concerned about the cost of delivery, just use a midwife

Hello Mikeymyke,

we have considered that but the nearest midwife from our town is 150miles away. No midwife in our town.

since the pregnancy was hidden from us for 4months, we are worried that complications in the future might happen and hospital deliveries for this kind shoots to CAD$12G. if her pregnancy had just been monitored from day 1, we will be confident for a midwife.

thank you for your input.

God Speed!

Oh i pray they wont, please. Although my husband has a substantial income that will qualify him for family size of 4.

Thank you for pointing this out.
