I am an international student who have applied for my study permit to Canada and already receive my passport with the visa stamp. The duration of my study will be from 1/09/2019 to 20/12/2019 as stated in my letter of acceptance. My flight tickets have been pre booked from 31/08/19 to 20/01/2019. However, the expiry of my visa stamp on my passport is on the 13/01/2020 which is 7 days earlier than my return flight. Does the expiry date on my visa stamp on my passport means i must return before the expiry date? If yes, is there any way i can prolong the expiry date? or will immigration officers in Canada issue the study permit with a different expiry date than the one on the passport?

You have to see what your study permit says; the TRV is only needed if you plan on returning to Canada after visiting your home country. You can leave Canada with an expired TRV. Your study permit and TRV and usually valid for 90 days after your course finishes, I don't know why you are given less time. If your study limit is issued with the same dates, then you will have to pre-pone your ticket.

I've been wondering the same thing. The website stated that a study permit expire 90 days after i complete my studies. My studies will complete on the 20/12/2019, which means my study permit should expire around March.

In these 90 days you can apply for other visa like study or work permit
